Yes, we follow gps mapping to ensure we are on the correct track as it can be quite hard to determin your route on grass. Just north there is a much longer route but only available to blue badge holders 😭

How do you find the gears? I am told that for normal driving you can use 2nd as the take-off gear and basically not need 1st unless on steep inclines or off-road.

I always pull off in 1st, I don't think anyone's ever been taught to skip a number lol but I do hear of that!

I know it sounds silly but for town driving, apparently due to the short gears and decent torque of diesel and TCe engines, you do not need to bother with 1st so you see 2nd - 6th the same as 1st - 5th in most cars. I did kind of notice this on test driving - a lot of gear changes. 1st still handy for steep hills. I will tell you when I receive my 1.2 TCe!

Still wouldn't do it, regardless it would say it in the manual if it was 'ok' to do and had no adverse effects
