I agree with the comments about John's military background as a driver for him to be in the battle. I also think your breakdown of his struggle with the corruption that absolute power brings also was a factor for him to keep in touch with what is going on. OG heroes don't want to be Gods. Diana walked away from the Hands at the end of Death Metal, Bruce walked away from The Mobius Chair (with and assist from Hal Jordan), Superman resists everyday (thank you Lois) and John doing what heroes do. I am looking forward to the Emerald knight run wondering if it connects with Earth-3's Emerald Knight from Future state

May be off the subject a bit … but with this god-like power, perhaps john might travel into the future and team up with that black female kryptonian, bring her back in time and add firestorm and big barda in a story where ol’ darkseid rears his grey face.

It's not inconsistent, it's John Stewart. If you know anything about his character then you'd know god powers aren't going to make him see himself as above everything. He'll be down there with his friends fighting the good fight.

@@markknox1194 A durlan was posing as Yrra while Yrra was imprisoned. John couldn't tell the difference and when he found Yrra she was pissed that he couldn't tell the difference and that the Star Sapphires made her love him, which they disagreed with in a later issue.

From what I understand, Jon Stewart will be among the first to fall, along with the rest of the Justice League at the start of Dark Crisis. So his Ascension will at best be temporary, because as we all know, being OP in the DCU never lasts for long. Just ask Wonder Woman and Hal Jordan.

It's like Gandalf he had the chance to wield The One Ring and opted not to take it from Frodo despite Frodo begging Gandalf to take The Ring of Power, John will only use as much power as a situation requires because John at this point is a living Infinity Gauntlet he could snap his fingers and kill every enemy on the planet with little effort but that's why John won't use even a fraction of that power because he knows the temptation of using great power always leads to corruption

Stewart is fighting in the trenches to remain human. The best way to not be corrupted by power is to limit yourself to the power. It is probably only time before Kilowog gets his ring recharged and high chance in the first few pages of the next issue. Problem is, this sounds like Ion all over again if a bit on a higher scale. If the entities haven't been resurrected, I wonder if John can do it himself since he was able to accidentally tap into the other colors. So did he restore the stolen power for the other CPB? Will this orb\beacon be basically a white lantern battery having access to all of the lights granting the proper color to the user? I also wonder if Kyle Rayner will attempt or I should say the writers attempt to revive the White Lantern.

John is a military man through and through, just because he's god-level doesn't mean he's changed that was the whole point of the conversation with the Source. John's character is unflinching so he will always lead from the front.

Meaning how and when he can use it if such things exist. Or how DC is going to write this character with godly power. This is new territory for John Stewart so we don't know how it's all going to go down exactly.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. Most Gods would sit back and watch. John is a Marine Corps vet. He's a warrior never one to sit back and watch a fight if he can make a difference. Not good narratively but a awesome character choice I think.

@@comicbreakdown Exactly, I'd know that John don't want to have all that powers, but to come at the battlefield with just a sword, whether the sword is Mighty or not, the sword thing is a little bit silly and not necessarily whatsoever. Hell john could just give his team or heroes ,extra powers if he wanted to help out or anything instead coming there with just a sword in hand. It's not john Style to do that at all. A powerful Transformer are some Gundam Wing Armor with laser guns on him that he created would make a much batter since if he done just that.
