I remember that transcript about "Green Leader" - who in Rhodesia wouldn't. The excitement we all felt when this broadcast was released to the nation. Our security forces had travelled by army pukkies & military trucks during the night over the common boarder of Rhodesia(now Zimbabwe) & Zambia into Zambia. Over-night, the Rhodesian forces occupied and quietly manned the streets of the Zambian capital Lusaka. The Zambians woke up in the morning and found their streets manned by Rhodesian forces, they were confined to their homes & not allowed to come out. In the meantime Rhodesian helicopters circled the Lusaka airport forbidding any Air traffic to land. Via loud speakers the Zambia people were assured they would not be harmed as Rhodesia had no quarrel with the Zambian people as long as they remained indoors until the Rhodesian forces had completed their operational military mission against the Russian trained Zipra guerilla insurgents/terrorists - who were numbered approx. 5000 and according to intelligence, were preparing to filter into Rhodesia via the bush veld. The operation took approx. Three days to complete & clean/mop up. After the military operation with deadly precision & efficiency was complete, the ground forces manning the Lusaka streets, peeled away/emptied the streets in an orderly & well drilled fashion and quietly slipped away and returned to Rhodesia. Rhodesia had a highly trained and efficient anti insurgency/guerilla fighting force/machine - probably the best in the world or equal to that of Israel at the time. Poor old Kenneth Kaunda - the then Zambian President was emotional & humiliated by this very bold but brief military operational invasion of his country & capital city by foreign forces. That is My recollection of that event.

@@heyfitzpablum Zambia probably couldn’t have marched straight into Cecil Square, but they most assuredly could have evicted the Rhodesian army from the border region (say, 100km into Rhodesia) and established a no-fly-zone over the country with a high probability of success. And of course, if there were any justice in the world, they’d have had a large number of Green Berets and suchlike to make sure Rhodesia got the message.
