I just wanted to give a huge thank you for making this video. I assembled my Jim Bowie Prime Plus yesterday after watching it, and it really made the process much easier! Your tips and hints were spot on. FYI, GMG apparently made a minor change to the hardware used to attach the lower shelf. I was scratching my head looking for the long bolts, but those aren’t used anymore. Thanks again!

This just went to the top of the purchase list. One question will does this need to plug into a gfi outlet? Both of my gfi plugs around the yard would be somewhere between 30 to 40 feet away so I have heavy duty extension cords if I need to. I’d just hate have to hire an electrician after spending a grand on the grill.

If I keep my GMG outside and covered should I empty the hopper after each use or is it Ok to leave pellets inside? If you recommend emptying, do you also have to empty the auger? GMG JB Prime+

No problems at all just keep it covered. I am in the northeast and have 0 issues.

Do you think the stainless steel lid is worth the extra $30 in price compared to the black lid? I have heard complaints about the paint and the GMG rusting early. Have they improved the paint process in the new DB Prime Plus Models?

That's completely up to you. Mostly people get the SS lid to match other appliances or grills in the back yard. Most of the time the "rust" is only from not being wiped down and condensation sits on the grease spots which creates an acid over time. Trust me any smoker on the market will rust if not properly maintained. I would go for the black lid to be quite honest. Good luck and happy holidays!

I just bought the same one but the black one and my bottom rack doesn’t have the rivets in the inside instead it has a U cut out.

GMG recently redesigned the bottom rack mounting and you have the newer design. They also changed the power supply to a 1 piece fixed cord setup.
