Soft plastics, jigs and spinnervaits I've tested so many colors. I came to the conclusion you need three colors. White/pearl, green pumpkin variation or black blue maybe dark purple junebug in place of a black blue. It's light, nutrial green pumpkin and dark depending on conditions. Maybe that all made sense lol

I pretty much have to agree with you. Those are my colors too but I like some watermelon red where I live they are good in the clear water.

@BassmasterSteven light green pumpkin red also fits that situation or just lighter green pumpkin black flake. My go to color is actually gp blue flake for most situations and it always catches the numbers.

The fish up here - both bass and bowfin, and even the bluegill that are too small to take the lure - love "Tequila Sunrise"; purple and pink. Slammed em last year with that color speed worm on a Texas rig.

Here in NJ we call it cedar water lol. Red shad or black is good

Usually in Florida when the waters black its brackish. Its when fresh and saltwater meet.

Also, early in the spring, where the craw fish burrow in reddish color clay, Red will work better than Green Pumpkin.

Florida boy and tree guy, can confirm about tannic water. Typically oak, cypress and cedar, but most vegetative matter has some degree of tannins. Generally, if you have a lot of oak dropping leaves in the water, it'll get stained up. I still go for green pumpkin as a base color quite often, but I'll add an accent. Green pumpkin with orange on a jig, Okeechobee craw soft plastics, a gold blade on a chatterbait. Gotta figure, bluegill don't get brighter just because the water gets darker🤷

I find that white or chartreuse and white work best in tannic water

Black, green or chartreuse is the primary colors I throw period. People talk about white but it hasn't produced for me at all. Black seems good for me even in clear water, when other anglers might teach against that but it works great for me lol

When I am on a school of fish and the bite stops I switch to black or purple and typically pick up a few more fish.

I spent the last year fishing 4 days a week after work and 9/10 weekends from March 1st till Oct 1st Fished three different lakes One pretty small no boats allowed One mid sized about 600 acres One rather large at 1200+ acres All three were different lake types the smallest was LOADED with submerged and visible wood and brush, mid sized lake weeds and lily pads is 90% of the fish holding structure with a soft bottom Largest lake is a combination of weeds pads wood soft and hard bottom Didn't matter same lures and colors worked equally well in all three But what surprised the crap out of me was how straight green pumpkin performed so poorly it wasn't worth fishing at all Best perfroming colors were in order of success Ghost shad White Ice/sight fish A tie between Watermelon red flake and red flake pearl Watermelon candy, Tilapia magic
