I'll never forget being 9 years old and my Dad telling me, "I heard that Uncle Roy is getting a new tractor. It's supposed to be big and green." I figured it was a John Deere (Dad's Uncle Roy had a 4440 at the time), but my mind was blown when the Steiger Panther IV KM-325 rolled into the field with a 44' International field cultivator. What a monster! I would ride my bike over to different vantage points around the farm to watch it go by. At one point, Roy's son who was running it stopped and yelled over to me, "you wanna ride?" I looked around, wondering if he was actually talking to me. I got to ride along for a couple of trips up and down the field, and I'm not sure I even said a word. I was in awe. Thank you for sharing these videos and bringing back great memories for an old country kid currently trapped in the suburbs.

Always loved the old Steigers ,big farmers, friend and neighbors of ours had two Panthers with 903 Cummins in them and 30.5 x 32 tires and duals pulled 10x18 International plows and 45 or 50foot field cultivator in the late 70's big time back then ! They were Deere guys but 8630's weren't enough power for them, then eventually Deere caught up and they traded them but you can't replace that bellar of those 903's with straight pipes !! Did you know that the license of STEIGER II series was sold to Hungary in Europe in the 70’s? It was more or less a copy paste except the engine and axles. There was a MAN licensed straight six engine with 250hp (later 300hp) built in and axles developed by a Hungarian company (cold RABA) which is still existing. As I know well today they are one of the axle-supplier of John Deere 9RT tractors at least in EU. The STEIGER II cold at our side RABA STEIGER and it was sold in yellow color and white cab. Quite a few of it running nowadays as well and are still very famous and reliable machines. Thanks for the nice videos. Big like and greetings from Hungary.

Behold, that red Case, International Harvester. What a beauty, and made in Fargo, North Dakota, no less. I'm a little prejudice here, since I'm myself from North dakota, born in Dickinson, no less. You know, it's true that some farms don't look like much, but still every farm is so very important. Not all farm operator's can have the bigger machinery, I know my dad couldn't afford the big stuff. Course, back in the 50's and 60's, you made do w/what you had. It's just a beautiful thing to watch the big machines do their stuff and they move along and cultivate the soil. The big farm machinery has come a hell of a long ways in just the few decades since I've been away from this.In it's own way, there is alot of beauty to farming. Love the Panther III, I have a customer who is restoring one for use on his farm. It has a Cummins 855 big cam engine it, and I've been helping him get engine parts (I work for Cummins). I know quite a few farmers who are dusting off these old dogs and rebuilding the cummins engines in them because they are pre-emmisions, and they don't require a computer to operate them. This guy runs a large Kinze disk behind his tractor, and the Steiger is the only one that has the ooomph to do it efficiently. He also uses it for construction- doing land prep pulling a scraper- it does great at both.

People, it's been all of 42 years since I used to do this in North Dakota. I'm reminuscing and I also crying. Farming is the backbone of America, cuz it's Americas bread and butter. I would like to point out, I never had the awesome priveledge of operating a Steiger, but instead the tractor was a 145 Versatile, which was a fraction of these tractors. Thank God for the farmer and all farners everywhere, cuz if it weren't for these people, noone would be able to eat. They're sending that high-tech stuff off to Russia, and I can't figure what they're doing it gor. They should be sending meat and wheat and cotton, cuz a loaf of bread never started no war. He's the American , he;s the American, he's the American farmer, we better see him through, cuz if we don't wer'e done for, too. He's the American farmer, and he's damned hard to beat, I said wake up American, we'd better wake up, cuz if the man don't work, then the rest of the world don't eat. Yes, people, a part of this is that Charlie Daniels song, The American Farmer. There's so much truth to that song. If I've offrended anyone w/my point of vieww, I'm sorry. That's all I can say.
