I was recently gifted a sample of Gyokuro, and from the smell alone I could tell this wasn't going to brew the same as other greens. Greatly appreciate your video and the way you present the information!

I am happy I found your video. I am going to find some Gyokuro because I think I will like it better. I was thinking of buying Sencha before I heard your explanation! Maybe I will get both and take the time to get used to each of them. Arigatou Samurai Chajin-San.

Thank you very much!There are many different kinds of gyokuro and sencha teas, so even if the tea you taste doesn't suit you, there are always other teas that taste better. Just pay attention to the temperature of the water and you'll have a nice cup of tea!

I can drink Sencha every day. Gyokuro is delicious but the heavy flavor makes it ill suited to regular drinking for me. I see the umami for sure. Someone once described it as brothy to me, which I thought was an excellent description.

That’s nice.For me, I regularly drink Kyobncha and I drink Gyokuro once a day I feel better.

what do you think of gyokuro vs kabusecha. i am used to drink sencha / fukamushi. i like fukamushi better than sencha. what do you recommend between gyokuro and kabusecha for who never tried gyokuro yet ?
@SAMURAICHAJIN3 жыл бұрын
Gyokuro and kabusecha are basically similar in taste because of the difference in the length of time they are shielded from the sun. In fact, between a good grade of kabusecha and a bad grade of gyokuro, the good grade of kabusecha has more umami. However, there are very few good-ranked kabusecha, so if you are interested in umami, I would recommend gyokuro. Of course, there are various ranks of gyokuro as well, so if you want to enjoy gyokuro, I suggest you buy gyokuro of a certain rank.
@bombomu23 жыл бұрын
@@SAMURAICHAJIN thanks for your great suggestion. i am thinking of some flavor of umami, some sweetness and some freshness. I've never tried gyokuro, is the taste pleasant for the first try ? arigato.

If you drink everyday,I think Sencha is better.but if you drink once a week,I think no differences between them.my boss drink Gyokuro everyday and he is 90 years old.The only probrem is Gyokuro is much expensive than Sencha.

@@SAMURAICHAJIN thank you for your answer👍🏻 I bought sencha yesterday "Sencha Miyasaki Bio" Tokujou Sencha from the family of Morimoto and it costs even more than gyokuro. Did i buy a premium version?😅
@SAMURAICHAJIN4 жыл бұрын
@@SY-hq3jv Normally,Gyokuro should be expensive than Sencha,but of course good Sencha is better than poor quality Gyokuro.'Tokujo' means 'Super' in Japanese,so make sure low tempereture water(after boiling water) for the first infusion,you'll see real Japanese tea taste :-)

As an American I drink 3-4 16oz coffee mugs of japanese green tea 🤣. Is this bad? If I used those small cups I would refill them every minute. I like to drink a lot.

It's not bad.We have 20oz plastic bottles for green teas normally,I brew 1 gallon kyobancha everyday for my kids.but If I brew sencha,I want to be strong taste which I like so I brew 2-3oz for each time.
