Absolutely heartbreaking and such a wonderful performance from Stephen. Anyone who doubts he can bring the goods needs to rewatch this scene. If that wasn't enough, we get one of my favourite Arrowverse pieces of music from Blake here too. Makes me tear eup every time I hear it. It is an absolute travesty that this scene is followed by one of the worst in the series history, and such a shame that the potential this scene set up was tossed aside with how poorly William has been handled after S5 and with his mother.

By Oliver's plan, William was going to find out who his father is after 18th birthday. at that time, he didn't know Chase is going to happen, he didn't know this whole thing is going to happen. and Oliver better than anyone else knows sometimes universe doesn't go like how you planned, so at that time this was right and it wasn't a waste of time. :)
