I've heard that the older generations in the South used to paint their underside of their porch roofs a light blue to imitate(I think) the color of the sky, and it would deter bees and wasps from making nests up there! Don't know why it works but they swore by it! Just a thought.😊❤

Im a new subscriber after seeing this video. Im debating on enclosing our back patio. Our home is a brick rancher and the metal roof is over existing shingles (prior owner decision). The transition on my roof won't be this easy because of the metal over shingles. Im glad you showed that. Yours looks great. As others have commented....your Son seems to be a talented young man. The porch roof looks fantastic! I’m old so I will always put the screws on the ridge. That way no one will ever have to go back and re-tighten or replace screws. Love watching you guys.

Great to see another man putting his boy to work! I had my boy do an asphalt shingle roof on the treehouse when I built it 30 years ago. He was 7 or 8 and he still takes pride in that roof today!

I live out in Arizona in the desert, My family lives in a 2001 Palm Harbor double manufactured home. After 23 years in it we had the outside stuccoed and replaced both the front and back porches. When I had the house built I had the Palm Harbor use 2x6 construction for the outer walls. Way to teach those boys.

It won't be attached to our roof as we are in an area of hurricanes so it's not permitted. I love your detailed information. We are going to put up a new deck also as our deck is n bad shape. Elijah is the star !! A tip - we put a wolmanized front deck and pool deck on our house. 20 years ago. But, for the top rail, we used Trex type boards. They don't bend, warp, splinter. Always are flat and look nice. A bit $$ but worth it. I wouldn't do it any other way😊
