He stills love the villa, met him in dublin and one of the things i remember was him telling me "it's always good to catch up with a villa fan from Birmingham". A real legend despite his demons. Let's hope he can keep fighting

After all these years...................I still have a man crush on this guy. Without doubt the greatest Irish football player I ever watched, and I lived through the Keane years, and I take nothing away from Roy either. But Paul.................different class. A superstar. And the fact that he is so humble and well shy, I find hard to compute. Paul: You're an 8th dan black belt grand master of football. Roberto fucking Baggio of all people sang your praises, said you were the best he'd faced. There were songs written about you. Deservedly so too. Act like it.Accept you're royalty.

You speak of Roy in comparison. Paul McGrath wouldn't have went out on the pitch to break a players leg, so bad he couldn't play again all because he had accused Roy of feigning injury in a previous match. Rightly or wrongly it was only words said & Roy should have 'articulated' back as he has done to many Refs. His violent retaliation was criminal. He's not in the same league as Paul in dignity, like Bobby Charlton was.
