The truth is for most of us 4c-z ladies this will be a 3 to 4 year journey and maybe more. Our hair grows, but a big chop, to healthy, to waist length, doesn’t happen in a year. Heathy hair will grow. It takes time for us. Don’t give up hope. Stay consistent if this is your desire to have “ lady Godiva” length hair. Your determination will be your own reward. Peace ❤

Very well said. I must share for anyone who can use it. When I transitioned to natural, I never did a big chop. My hair has always been past the shoulders. On wash day, I continued to do roller sets, just like with perm. I clipped my ends gradually, maybe every 2 months. Hair is completely natural now and growing very nicely. I stay away from direct heat. Occasionally I will use a hooded dryer. I am 4 years natural and enjoying learning how to handle my natural hair from my you tube sisters. I won't say it has been an easy journey but it is very rewarding. I will never go back to the creamy crack! Have a great day.

@@cathyfreeman8608 Thank you! I appreciate your compliment. I am so happy to hear of your journey and how your transition has worked so well for you. I am natural, now, but I won’t lie when I say I loved creamy crack. The only difference is I would always wear a short Jada/Halle Berry length cut. I loved my short permed hair. Nobody grows waist length hair from scratch in a year. Hair grows about 6 inches per year, give or take, no matter the texture. So yeah 3-4 years is a normal time frame. Factor in setbacks, and it might take a little longer though.

Forgetting about length and enjoying your hair at it’s current stage is the best thing you can do for your hair. Especially if you want length retention. Plus some of us have more shrinkage than others (Before anyone starts telling how ‘real’ it is, I LOVE my shrinkage as much as every other healthy part of my body. We good over here👌🏾). My tailbone length hair shrinks to just below my shoulders. Seeing my length isn’t really a priority for me because I know how much manipulation will have to take place for me to see it. I’d rather enjoy my volume over my length. So styles that showcase my volume always works best for me. And of course headwraps. Those will always be a staple 😉

I just wished over favorite KZbinrs would tell us the time all of this work took and keep saying it. I have been natural for ten years and I’m at mid back. It’s possible for all of us even with the simplest routines. But there are girls struggling to grow their hair and they think something is wrong but it’s really just TIME. Yea length retention and all that stuff but time is a huge factor. No one did this overnight and we have ALL had setbacks. I think if these types of videos were followed by the setbacks and how stressful it all was there would be less issues in our natural hair community. Anyways. I love green beauty. I have followed her for many years but she makes it look to easy, “just scoop and spread”, which made me feel like something was wrong with me in the beginning of my journey as I have never seen a drop of sebum, lol Green beauty is a scientist in my opinion so the respect is there. So right now, I’ve taken out my twists and now wearing my hair in a high bun. Since I have breakage in my crown, that I’m trying to grow out, I’m wondering if I’m on the right track by wearing my hair in a high bun, or should I try wearing low bun styles instead. I’m also, moisturizing my crown section twice a day, and trimming this section more frequently and making sure the style is loose. My thoughts were, since I’m in a desert climate and the sun hits the crown area 1st, wearing my hair in a high bun will reduce any direct sunlight and dryness my hair would receive, as opposed to wearing it in a low bun. If I wear a low bun then my crown is exposed, unless I wear a hat, but I’m not really a fan of hats. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated! 🙏🏾🤗

I've been watching your channel for probably 10 years. Your hair is now waist length, and mine (broken ends) is still at my shoulder blades hahahahahah I've been growing it since 2009. You really know your hair and are able to crack the code of it. Me not so much. My hair is breaking extremely right now on my right side because I did a lye texture with mizani butter blend 6 months ago. Because I have hard water it has ruined my hair. Since I moved to a poor neighborhood where the water is complete trash, my hair has been ravaged. I didn't catch on to why my hair was being trashed until it was too late. Now I know what was causing my hair to be trashed and I can pick up the pieces from here. I have new natural roots to start off with. I refuse to cut off the breaking hair trim yes but cut no. I'm holding on to every strand with white knuckles, I've worked so hard and waited SOOOOOOOOOOOO long to have hair past the tops of my shoulders. I have discovered the right conditioner and how to strip the gross disgusting mineral buildup on my hair from my tap. So I start from here 2023 AGAIN starting over. Not doing a big chop, just starting fresh.

I’m sorry to hear about your setback. You need a filter for your shower or a water softener.

@@nibabi Thank you. January 2024 I cut it off to 5 inches to start fresh. I use her acidic water spray scritch method and it is the cure for it without having to buy a shower head. I still plan to one day but her acidic water spray works. It's now Novemmber and I'm at about 7 inches. It's all fresh and no breakage.

Hello! Can you please do a video on high and low porosity. For some reason, many natural hair KZbinrs seem to think their hair is low porosity. That is not true and a misconception in the natural hair community. Afro kinky curly hair tends to be high porosity hair. Many think that because their hair take longer to dry after washing it, then it is low porosity. But that comes from all the products we put on our hair to keep in from drying out.

I believe she did a serie on that but it was a while ago. You can research it on her channel.

I feel like for me, getting past collar bone length is some great mystery that I don't know how to achieve. I suffer from seborrheic dermatitis, so shampooing often is the only way I know to keep my scalp clean 😮💨. Any advice?
@1GoldenBreeze2 жыл бұрын
If you use a medicated shampoo, don't pull the suds through the length of your hair. Shampoo the length with a moisturizing shampoo. I have an oily scalp so I shampoo every 4 - 5 days and my hair is about an inch from tailbone length. So it isn't necessarily the frequent shampooing that keeps you from retaining length. Check out Latoya Ebony's channel. She is a 4c girl with seborrheic dermatitis and her hair is long. Maybe you can pick up some tips to help you out.

Can you do a tutorial on mini twist on your heat stretched hair? I have a hard time with my twist unraveling. I’m not sure if I should add a little product. Thank you for all of the time and effort you put into these videos!

Would you recommend scooping and spreading for people who work out and sweat a lot in their scalps? I feel like after two sweats it’s time for a wash.
@ladyd80282 жыл бұрын
You can always just rinse your scalp & hair, then sebum spread and twist. Experiment! Find what works best for you & your lifestyle. 😇
@GreenBeauty2 жыл бұрын
Scooping and spread is especially beneficial for those who work out. Sweat mixes with sebum to creat something called an acid mantle. And Acid mantle is even more protective to our skin and hair than just sebum. Right after working out, scoop and spread your hair. Do it every day you work out. You hair will look 🔥 after just one week.

I am interested in a wash day video with your hair at waist length. It looks like your hair was in twist and the twist were in two buns. Do you take the buns out when you rinse? Do you always keep your hair in those same sectioned twists?

Would you suggest using revhair in replacement of your dryer?
My hair has been locd for 7 years and I started with my hair short. I have snipped a few weak spots but over all it is a little past bra strap when wet or stretched. The less I do to it the better. Messing with steam treatments gave me some limp spots

Do you have advice for women who work out and can't wash their hair once a month due to the sweat and smell. I can't seem to find not one video on this. For women who work out and a hair care regimen. I wash my hair bi weekly but my hair as well does its best blown out and stretched but I can't keep it that way.

I workout and swim during the summer. I wash my hair as often as I need-sometimes daily. I style with leave ins, custards and sometimes mousse because they apply easily and dry quickly. For protective styles, bubble braids wash easily look great they frizzier they get, just keep the rubber bands nice and loose. Some like wearing twists and braids as well, but mine can’t last more than 2 washes.

Hey 👋🏾, the sweat that comes out your scalp should not have an odor unless there’s a pH imbalance in your body. Try adding more raw greens to your diet and keep sugar and oily food down to a super small minimum. Also, you may be noticing a scent on your scalp b/c bacteria from the air is sticking to the buildup on your scalp. So, instead of washing your hair after every workout … scoop and spread after every workout. Your sebum will spread a lot faster b/c you work out and you hair will look bomb. The goal is to never let sebum and sweat build up on your scalp.
@Krayne4272 жыл бұрын
@@GreenBeauty I'll try the scoop method after workouts and see how that goes. Thank you ❤️ ✨️

On a non-wash day week, try spraying it with an apple cider vinegar/water mixture (1 to 3) while in a protective style (e.g. twists, plaits), let it sit for 30 minutes, and rinse it out with water. You may have a fungus on your scalp.
