Every time I watch one of your vlogs I can’t help but think of you as the Johnny Vegas of the fells! Little in looks but the sense of humor too. Love it!

i met johnny randomly once on a street in manchester.. my humor is very dry, alot of folk might not like it but everyone likes a guy falling over eh haha :)

One the most underrated rounds in the Lake District and I did it the same way round as you, 2 years ago with a friend. Fair weather hiking sounds a dam fine idea when you look at the mist and rain and I like to take my time on a hike and have plenty of comfort breaks too lol. Lots of false summits on Steel Fell but with you on getting the hard work done first and luckily we had frost and ice rather than mud and slippery rock. 'The good news is I am over'....lol, that's what you get for wishing that on the others - karma - but just as well you had spare socks🤣. When we got to Helm Crag my friend climbed the Howitzer, which inspired me to follow her but given she was 35 years younger and 5 boot sizes smaller, I decided against it! Cheers Alan

Id like to say I learned my lesson but until I get Dave Allen waist deep in bog I wont be satisfied now haha.. The whole central fells in general now Ive finished them are the boggiest in the entire lakes but great for shorter treks out even in mist. I will climb the howitzer one day, I even spotted the route but the rocks just looked too greasy so didnt fancy risking it.. Thanks for watching alan, tek care pal :)

Ey up Marra, brilliant mate, you did well getting 24 minutes out of that yesterday. Was great craic, makes such a change to see someone else stacking it other than myself.🤣🤣 We just need to contact Ordnance Survey now to tell them the area between Steel Fell and Calf Crag is to be re-named Ostle Bog! 🤣 Great to meet you and t’other Dave. All the best mate. 😀⛰🥾

aye am pretty pleased with the result, its always gonna be hard to mek a mountain video without views but hopefully theres enough to entertain, if not its always a good memory for me to watch back in future eh, mebs when am over 50 and wondering how i ever managed without sticks haha.. Thanks for coming Dave, couldnt of got 24 minutes out of this without you both, cheers :)

Lovely video, Dave. I do not envy you all doing that section from Steel Fell to Calf Crag - as you said it's even boggy in dry conditions. I've done this three times, I think, but never anti clockwise like you lads did. Keep on keepin' on.

its a great walk.. not sure id recommend a wild camp up there as you'd struggle to find a dry square of grass as ya know.. one to revisit for a clearer day me thinks. :)

I remember doing this round Dave. Had to abandon it on the first attempt at Gibson Knott as the wind was horrendous!

Shame about the weather but i am hoping to do this walk this summer. Good video though as are all the videos you have done. I still have 63 of the 214 to do and your videos are very useful as i can see the route you took. Just out of interest which Garmin watch do you use? I take it it has 1:25000 mapping on it? Many thanks.
@daveostlemountainman7 ай бұрын
Cheers lad aye bitof a mishap on this one haha.. the watch i use is garmin instinct.. you upload gpx files to it and it gives you a very basic line to follow of the route.. nothing fancy just a line but helps alot.. thanks for watching, tek care :)
