Great video again and a terrific walk in brilliant conditions. Moving in and out of the mist actually adds to the experience. You're right, nothing beats walking the fells in snow. Liked the story about the trip with your mates - Skiddaw was also my first fell over 50 years ago.

Thanks chief.. yea sadly when I got home I found out I wasnt actually on Bakestall.. so al go back up there shortly to fix the error 🤣.. 50 years ago wow.. I wasted my 20s and early 30s.. so trying to make up for that now

Once the fells get hold of you they don’t let go! Great to know how you became hooked. About 5 years ago I had the chance to retire early from work, but just couldn’t make my mind up. After a couple of weeks changing my mind on a daily basis, I stood on the top of Crag Hill. There it hit me that life is too short and this, fell walking was a far better way to spend my life than the daily office grind. Five years on no regrets. I don’t mind admitting that moment of realization was quite emotional!! What are you going to do when you finish the last couple of Vlogs

That's a good story, I definitely think you made the right decision and I'll tell you why.. Ultimately one day we will only have memories.. I have done around 75 walks in the last 3 years and I remember almost every moment of those 75 days.. I even think I still would even if I didn't put them on film.. I know one day I wont be able to do this anymore and when am sitting in my chair with a cup of tea and a packet of hobknobs Ill have all these memories to comfort me. Keep making more my friend... On to the Munros after these.. :)

Nice to hear the back story Dave. Mines a similar one really. Now I’ve got bug and I spend every day I have off in the fells. Can’t get enough.

Ey up Marra. looked a cracking day out with brilliant views. Loved the story of how you got in to hiking in the fells and mountains. And great that you got the views from the top of Skiddaw, and that you had it to yourself was the most amazing thing. Thanks for sharing your adventure mate, all the best mate. 😀⛰🥾❄️

Another great video and hike, Dave. I had a laugh when you said you'd never been up Latrigg, especially as you live so close - it was one of the first we ever did and managed to get lost wandering further past the top! The snow on the route was really great, made for exciting hiking - I was glad you didn't slip this time!! Glad too you got some views at the top, it's really fabulous all round from Skiddaw. We did Lonscale Fell last and descended from there which is also very scenic but the zigzags up Skiddaw are as tough as you get in the Lake District- Andrea said, never again!! Regards, Ashley

Yea I think the initial Skiddaw part is one of the hardest to get going on.. Feel like they have upgraded the path in last 2 years tho, didn't seem as rocky this time.. Has Slieve Donard got snow on?.. Was hoping for a snowy walk from yourself this winter :)

@@daveostlemountainman I’ll tell you tomorrow!!

Well done Dave looks a tough one that! We tried to go up Skiddaw in January but the wind and clag beat us so just went down the valley and up Lonscale Fell from the back end. I must admit i dont fancy going up the tourist route to the summit it looks a long slog so kudos to you for doing that and even more! Top Hiking!

I think i make it look harder than it is haha.. aye i considered the route round the back of lonescale but just stuck to what i was familiar as i normally do at the moment.. Thanks for watching, tek care :)
