I like how even though you sell them and make profit you still promote making your own were you can, that's an old fashioned British idea that our American cousins don't seem to get.👍

Thanks Neil, good info. It is nice to watch a video made by someone who actually knows what he is talking about.

Awesome filter video. After watching this, I'd want to go for the parachute-silk bag as the dry time would be relevant to me over the burlap or whatever the Millbank was made of. That said, I'd still want to neutralize the harmful chemicals (pesticides, heavy metals, etc) via a chemical filter...then I'd be willing to drink that muck water.

Up early this morning as I couldn't sleep. Despite the current drought and the grass dead and brown I found it very wet with a heavy dew. In a survival situation this dew could be mopped up in a towel or clothing, wrung out, filtered, purified and consumed.

Here's a tip for you which I told many people about yet somehow it never caught on... Spirulina fabric is a synthetic sheet which filters at .2 micron. It is used to filter out spirulina. It's essentially weight-less. I never bothered weighing it but I reckon a square metre doesn't weight more than 5g-10g. It really is basically weightless. Ironically, most professional filters don't actually filter at absolute .2 micron (absolute being the important word here). Obviously it's just one layer but if you buy a big enough sheet you can fold it several times over to create a decent filter which actually filters down to most bacteria size level and at a serious condition (assuming you can't boil) it is actually far superior to most actual filters out there at almost zero weight, almost zero space and not that much money all things considered. You can carry it in your pocket and you wouldn't even know it's there. It also dries out in minutes. I used to carry some pre filter fabric that was meant to do what a milbank bag does as a first layers, then the spirulina fabric and then the bottle I collect in. Obviously, if you have the Grayl or if you boil as well that would be preferable because more is always better but in theory you can achieve the same level of filtration using a 5g spirulina fabric as you can with a sawyer filter.

Thanks for this. I'm a big fan of the original millbank filter but they do take a looooong time to dry out, can you tell me is there anything special about para silk/nylon which makes it good for filtering, or would any light weight nylon work for this purpose?

I'm wondering if water obtained this way in areas surrounding London (e.g. Kent, Hertfordshire, Surrey) or any more or less industrial city/town, is safe to drink after filtration and purification tablets? Filtration removes the sediment, purification kills the bacteria and viruses, but what about all the chemicals and toxins?

Are your water filters Parachute SILK or Parachute NYLON? Silk hasn't been used for making Parachutes for many years now.

Nice video, thanks. Aren't you worried about the chemicals in the parachute nylon fabric getting into your water?

SIMPLE GEAR PROJECT # 2. The title of the ‘how to make’ a parachute silk water filter bag video. It doesn’t appear to have been tagged with ‘water filter’ ‘water bag’ ‘ parachute silk’ or ‘millbank’ as it didn’t appear in the videos shown for these searches!

@@hulabiker21 how does "tagging" work buddy?
@hulabiker21
@hulabiker21 Ай бұрын
@@greencraft4783 sorry if I’ve raised your hopes but I’m not a KZbin creator, so I’m unsure how a creator attaches tags to a video. You usually see them at the bottom of the description. But generally it means any search using one of the tag terms will include in its results a video that is associated with that tag. Alternatively you could retitle the video (and repost??) as I think the terms in the title are searched. Maybe you know a fellow creator or proper KZbin techy person who can help you with tags? Sorry to be unhelpful. In the meantime you could just specify the title of the ‘bag making’ video in the description of this video. Thanks for the water filter bag videos, I’ve watched them both, very thought provoking.
