I have a 1945 Willys here in Colombia. You would not believe how manyyyy short term repairs were done on it. I paid about $5500 USD and had to put another $5500 USD into repairs. It’s fun to drive. I feel very confident even in torrential rain, deep mud, blackout conditions and ugly roads.

Hi mate good to see you back. That Jeep is in great shape and has been well looked after. Yours is smoother faster and looks the nuts. I love all old Jeeps. It's a Jeep thing as you know. Cheers for showing us 👌 My father has finally got another 1943 GPW it's great going out in it and seeing people's reactions. Priceless.

Good to see you again! What a nice survivor. Swiss farmers used those poor Jeeps to death. They last a long time but if neglect is to bad, they finally give up and die. I tell you I have been in Oregon. If you are not on the coast cars there last FOREVER. The climate is dry but not devilishly hot. I was tempted to buy a 1956 New Yorker: First paint, no rust. Hemi engine. The seller was kind of senile, spending the winter in Florida and I could not keep a regular telephone or email concversation with him. I have seen cars in fields without windows. But they were nearly rust free!

@@Greendot319 I experienced some rain in Oregon but far from the coast the air is amazingly dry. The Chrysler I tried to buy had a very old bump on the rear quarter and there was only minimal surface rust on the blank metal. I remember a sign: Welcome to the outback of Oregon! I was surprised to see this praerie type of vegetaion. Near the coast you have big rivers and forrests. That shows us how small countries in Europe are. I had to turn around in Oregon because there was a distance of about 120 miles from one gas station to the next. In Switzerland I live in a place where you are in Germany or France if you drive 50 miles or even less. about 150 miles and I am in Italy or Austria. PS I checked rainfall diagrams of Oregon: Most of the East gets only 5 to 12 inches of annual rainfall. There are big regions that are labelled having mediterranian climate.

I always wanted a wartime type jeep. In the early sixties they were being advertised for sale in the back of the Farmers Weekly for £250 give or take twenty pounds, depending on condition. I wanted dad to buy one for the farm runabout but he said they were heavy on petrol which was five shillings a gallon at the pump. We used to pay four shillings if we bought two hundred gallons at a time for the farm tank. I think £250 would be just less than £7000 now according to my inflation calculator.

It's been a while mate. I don't want to be picky, but what is with the hood catch in the middle of the hood on the driver's side? Also, I would love to hear the back story of this Jeep. How it got to the U K from Oregon, very cool find. Good to have you back. It didn't take long for the trash to get back in the comment section, 🙄 good grief.

So let me get this right. you've shown us a WW2 Jeep with 170,000 miles on the clock. Sure, the old gal is a bit tired but with the right care has a lot of life left. Exactly how many vehicles made today will still run in 80 years with that mileage? Virtually none, as their electronics will be toast and long since unobtanium. I love how these plucky WW2 Jeeps just keep soldiering on. Not bad for a vehicle that had a very short expected combat life and, with the numbers produced, was considered to be an inexpensive and disposable item.

Of course there are differences in the driving experience. Your vehicle had a pampered life and hardly any use. the other one was very well maintained but driven a lot. I think those terrible front tires need to be replaced. That will make a huge difference already.

Well I'm afraid that's where you are mistaken my friend. Everything adds up and is fully documented by the original owner. I should know as I bought the Jeep from the original owners son. His father bought it in 1947. It just goes to show that if you look after something it will last.
