I treat nearly all tai chi applications as based in grappling, and in response to grappling; makes a lot more sense. For this one, if instead of deflecting a punch, you regard it as a response to an opponent's grabbing attempt, then that is what both of your arms are doing - directing/controlling his wrists down to his sides before you grab his legs.

@@Greendragontaichiandqigong We figured, that it is actually more applicable when you don’t take the step back with the right foot at the end of the technique but step forward with the left leg. This symbolises the “driving into the opponent” more. I’ll change that in my form. You actually take the step forward when you demonstrate the technique with Jay. Other than that the technique worked really well. Better than some other techniques we figures out so far.
