If you are mostly in remote hilly areas winter tyres are an absolute must ! I live in Aberdeenshire rural i only use wintre tyres 24 /365 ! This will work much much better even if you go farm/forest track in mid summer. This is the way to go ! Winter tyres will make a world of difference, but you still need to take your time ! All terrain tyres will work in mud but winter tyres in snow is better in snow . If you decide to struggle through the winter .get new winter tryers in time for next winter? That is my advice, for what it's worth .

Only recently found your channel and it's great. Winter tyres make a big difference not only in the snow but they grip much better when temperatures are low. Snow Driving: accelerate gently, use Brakes only if you haven’t time to slow down simply by taking your foot off the Throttle (were you not looking far enough ahead?) and if you’re coming down a hill use the Gears mostly, dabbing the brake very gently & often to keep engine revs below about 3000. If you’re safely holding it in first at 10mph that’s fine, there’s no rush. Drop the front tyre pressures if you’re really stuck (pack a Pump to pump em up again afterwards if you have one). Thanks for the content. Enjoy your travels

Hello, Mike from County Durham. Enjoyed the video as per and i have taken to reading the comments too. Here is a snow drive tip. When moving off in second gear as a previous person has already mentioned, ensure your front wheels are straight forward, only when you are moving slowly turn the steering wheel gently. If you start moving with your wheels at an angle there is a likelyhood you may start slipping and burying wheels in the snow and ice. Crack on and best wishes Mike

Nic, try a little USB fan for the steam issue. It's better than blowing. haha. Just charge it when you drive. ;-)

I converted a minibus and thought I could get away with just a single roof extractor vent due to having so many openable windows. Nope, that was a fail!!. haha. Good to see your having a great time traveling around with your friend in the middle of a pandemic. When the rest of the country is locked down with essential transport only..

@@nicroams I did my research when you are driving on roads covered in snow when there is no need. So to spell it out if you had an accident or got stuck the emergency services would be taken away from real emergencies. And putting themselves at risk. So glad you think it's funny. Wake up to the real world.
@nicroams3 жыл бұрын
I live in my van thus driving is essential regardless of weather conditions. Dare I tell you not to leave your house incase you slipover and need emergency services... same thing right?! I actually don't find the pandemic funny and have been following guidelines. What I find funny is people like yourself commenting without actually reading the description and watching the vlog. If you'd actually have watched it, you'd realise the lockdown commenced during this vlog where measures were taken. From your photo it looks like you have a van yourself, where is the support for your own community? You of all people must know how tough it is for full time vanlifers on the road right now. Please if you're not here to support a fellow van lifer keep your negative vibes to yourself.

Yes all we can do is try our best to reduce movement. But easier said than done for some! Just stay safe and do what you think is best for yourself and everyone else in mind ☺

Must be because your van is low key, I've been stopped every other day throughout all the lockdowns in Yorkshire.

snow chains are good for snow covered roads for anythings else use some large zip ties threaded through the steel rim and over the tyres
@nicroams3 жыл бұрын
Haha yes, I was using them on snow covered roads 😄. Zip tie trick sounds good though for when the road surface is interchanging 🤗
