If you open a few windows a little bit to let air circulate, you won't get condensation on the windows
@markb369113 жыл бұрын
Nic, if you spray the inside of the window with a little shaving foam, then wipe it with a paper towel so there aren't any smears, the thin film of soapiness stops the condensation and doesn't smear. Costs pennies and works. Lots of people with old cars use this trick.

Hi Nic, I use the gas hob to warm my van when I don't use the diesel heater. Sometimes I leave it on the lowest setting all night. I have detectors to make sure it's safe, but I've never had any problems and I hate being cold. I have ventilation in the floor below the cooker. Best thing is it uses no power.

I would be very careful of that 😆. I know you have taking the necessary precautions but I have heard stories of people dieing from doing that. Whether they're true or not but I don't want to find out. Could you get a hot water bottle instead 🤗

Hi Nic , great series . Have lived in a van for 9 years . Mainly Lincolnshire in winter , Then South for summer . On hold now of course . During this lockdown decided to treat myself , found a campsite , water , electric , waste disposal , internet , No conveniences or showers . Very secluded , great scenery .£12 day . Will have to settle down soon tho ( 72 last week ) :~) ...How to be alone and joyful . Alone and celebrating life . enough unto yourself . A great discovery .Love .

Regardless I'd still have to pay for parts and labour time, all it would save me is another trip to the garage 😅

As others have said put your fan near front side window facing away from cooking and it should draw steam to outside. Thanks for vid, oh also during winter try get to a car cleaner with high pressure washer and spray underneath your van including brakes as the salt and mud from the road will knacker your brakes. They will soon dry after a few steady pumps on your brake pedal as you leave the car wash area. Stay safe

In stead of using your heater why do you not use an electric mains throw blanket to wrap yourself in. Uses much less batter power. You can put an electric blanket on your bed to. Only use little amps.

Although I am not full timing I do keep my spices and basic ingredients in the van in readiness. You are absolutley right you have to be well organised in a confined space (my camper is a VW T6). I use a plastic tray as my draining board which can be wiped down easily and stacked away under my bed. I am so missing getting away and I am camping vicariously through your vlogs.

Just subscribed only watched two of your videos and I’m already intrigued with your content the layout and style of your can is actually very impressive I’ll have to do that split pull out bed you done great idea I noticed there’s a blank space between he top of your fridge and counter top and that you said you don’t have much work counter space , I wouldn’t like to make any suggestions on anyone’s build but I’d say if you cut out enough wood in that area you could put roller bearing sliders inside to tuck away an extra work counter , if you could have the rear of the sliders slightly pivot up and down while the front end has stiff spring tension so that once the board slides out it pivots up to get level with the counter also the slides would need to be secured at a slight angle so it can be flinch , also a locking pin so it don’t drop with the weight , then the extra space below that which you’ll be left with you could turn it into a drawer or tuck box but just said I’d mention that , gonna go watch the rest of your content ha ✌🏻🤙🏻

I'm sure someone has likely said by now but those temperatures are (what it thinks the) inside temperature is and what the temperature is set to (if running), it has no way of knowing the outdoor temperature. However, like the voltage the temperature reading with these heaters is wildly inaccurate, generally i find the voltage to show 0.2 lower than it is.
@nicroams3 жыл бұрын
Someone did drop a message and say the first temp is in and second is out. Which confused me but so has this 🤣. I don't doubt you it just doesn't seem to add up. Because my heater is and always has been set at 8 (it's lowest setting) yet it showed 10. Also if the first temp is inside which showed 0.5°c I just don't think that can be true as I'd be freezing, unless I've climatised even more than I thought 😆. I understand it might be a little off but even 3°c would be ridiculously cold. The only thing I can think of for what you are saying is right is that the monitor is on the front of the fridge which is bringing the temp down more 😄. To be honest I guess it doesn't matter as long as it works and I don't freeze to death 🤣

@@OTWD_yt Absolutely. There are too many vanlifers who make what is tantamount to a slick pop video once a week or once a fortnight. As far as I'm concerned, the only video skills I really want to see are the places you go to, and you talking in such a way they we can hear you. Anything else is just pointless frippery. Thank you very much Nic for your excellent video - I've only just discovered you but was eager to comment before I check out your KZbin Channel!? Happy travels!

Really hoping the insulation in my van is going to be up for the job next winter

I have recycled glass 'wool' on my walls, rigid board on my roof, nothing on my floors, thermal blinds for my windows and vapour barrier all around behind the scenes. It has been kept the temperature 8 degrees warmer inside than out this winter without heating on. I'm sure you'll be fine!

You are getting good at this blogging stuff. Particularly enjoyed your episodes in the Yorkshire Dales and then the North Yorks Moors.

Heeey. Me again. So just picked up my Vauxhall vivaro yesterday. Toying with ideas and designs for it as shall be also living full time in it. What’s your pros and cons to living in a small van and is there anything you wished you did different to your build x

I just watched this video and another one of yours. Do you have plans or drawings for your set up in the van. I am currently saving up for one and getting different ideas of how I want to set it up.
