When I began making research for this video, I was actually surprised by just how much about Lady Bunny's life I didn't know about. I gained a lot of new found respect for her, after seeing the struggles she faced back when the community wasn't as publicly accepted as it is now. It's also a good wake-up call for us to be a lot more together than we are right now.

Hi, I’m commenting because I believe everyone deserves to be educated on the ingredients and side effects of this product. ColonBroom is a bulk-forming fiber laxative (psyllium husk, aka Metamucil) combined with a stimulant laxative (senna leaf, aka Senokot, Smooth Move etc). Taking a stimulant laxative like senna too often or for too long can cause laxative dependence, potentially making one unable to have a bowel movement without it. It was unfortunate to see the claim of “lose weight” on ColonBroom’s ad, because it simply isn’t true- unless in reference to the weight of the stool lost during a bowel movement. Please use caution with this product.

yeah, most people's only refence of what drag is is like- rupaul, and some of the most famous Ru girls. and even big fans of the show see drag as mostly the archetypes we are presented with: The comedy queen, the pagent queen, the fashion queen, the quirky queen, the fushy queen, and so-on.

as much as i adore drag race, i completely agree with lady bunny when she criticizes the image that the show has painted for drag queens. The aggressively gendered aesthetic of the earlier seasons, with anything less than glamorous and feminine being shot down, has largely informed a wider audience as to what a queen should look like. When in reality drag has always been about self expression and challenging societal norms, however you choose to do so i'm glad that they're starting to become more open minded, but there's still a lot that is pretty unknown to a lot of fans. The younger queer community needs to learn their history, as well as remember that we are all in the fight for acceptance together

Honestly hate that all roads always lead to blaming Drag Race and RuPaul. They've done so many challenges highlighting queer history and referencing the queer canon, all for fans to criticize Ru for making dated references, saying she doesn't do enough, saying she is too old and doesn't understand modern things, all this speculation about who should replace her, etc. Ru did her job and made it possible for queens to make performing a career, something that was only possible for very few before the show. Maybe some others need to make the change as well instead of just blaming the black man for not doing it exactly right.

Lady Bunny was a caregiver and friend to all of us Club Kids back in the day. I will always love her for the way she kept us safe in alphabet City when people were driving into town beat our asses and sometimes kill us. There was no subway downtown and taxis didn't go past 14th after certain hours. Bunny was in dolls in Thompson Sq. Park, all the queens helped each other. It was hard back then. I feel like it was such a mistake ever airing those conversations about "fishy" and breast plates being offensive. No one is actually offended by the term fish. i think that lady bunny has a very good take on drag and one that should be voiced more, and sadly isnt voiced as much by rupaul who came up during the same time. i am an afab drag performer and i grew up watching drag race and drag U and i wanted to do drag for so long, but i never thought it was for me, but as i grew older and learned the history of drag, i learned that it was a space for me as well. i wish there was a season of trans individuals, people who paved the way and even a king on a season or something. thats what upsets me the most is that this show has been going on for so long and why is it that dragula has more representation than rupaul drag race does??? we can recognize the history but also still look to the future.

Compared to many of the younger queens who have popped up on DR in recent years... well, there is just no comparison. Bunny IS a LLLLegend. Full of wit/talent, intelligent, provocative, fearless. This is what Drag SHOULD be. What it always was. Peeps of the younger gens, drag is not just all about looking pretty in the mirror, or on TikTok, or wearing fab clothes with 1,000s of stones... though we love that too. Drag is about MAKING A STATEMENT. Saying something to move the conversation forward, and better secure our community so that it is safer and more inclusive.

I love Lady Bunny and her politically incorrect and outrageous humor. I hope there will be more drag artists in the future who will push the boundaries of what can be joked about without being canceled.

As a mostly hetero-identifying woman I thank the gods for Lady Bunny and all the queens that dared to poke fun and push envelopes full of things to make people squirm and clutch their pearls in shock. People need to stop taking themselves so seriously, it only leads to anger, rage and high blood pressure.

Bunny can frequently be seen leaving her West Village town home in full drag running down the stairs of her stoop, and elegantly DIVING into her car head first as not to mess her wig! Lol.. Thank you for this. I have been a fan of Lady Bunny from the early 1980's. I think a RPDR season of older Queens would be fantastic. Lady Bunny, Cocco Montrece, Darcelle XV, Dolly Levi, Lady Red, Donna Personna, Juanita More, ... so many more. It would be a treat and the producers would have their hands full!

This is actually a discussion that's been needed for some time and though this might be a bit lengthy, I urge everyone to read it. The Lady Bunny comes from a very different....for lack of a better term, era. Drag had virtually no rules back then and many of us were able to get away with having jet-black humor. Nothing was too taboo (Tabboo!) and many of us that were around before _Drag Race_ built our followings on shock value because it worked in the context of the four walls that kept drag queens chained to the gay bars. Lady Bunny and RuPaul came to New York together in the early 1980’s. RuPaul eventually realized just how cautious he’d have to be if he wanted to reach the level of stardom he aspired to and by 1993 when she finally broke through into the mainstream lexicon with “Supermodel” and went on to conquer every other facet of the entertainment industry, Bunny remained the most influential (and powerful) drag artist in New York City with Wigstock. RuPaul became the Disney equivalent of a drag queen and could do virtually nothing more controversial than putting a dress on for fear that any ripples she caused might eject her from a boy’s club that never really wanted her, but went on to fall in love with her nonetheless. Is Bunny’s entire act ready for mainstream approval? Absolutely not. But the big difference is that Bunny never _aspired_ to it. Regardless, people still flocked to her for her outrageousness while suburban grandmothers ate up every episode of _The RuPaul Show_ on Vh1. These two queens were borne out of the same scene in Atlanta and rose to a certain level of infamy together in New York, but their lives split at a moment that will forever define them as very different creatures. It’s interesting to ponder whether somebody like Lady Bunny should be held to the same standards as other comedians that have been “canceled” for joking about a sensitive topic. Here again is another key difference between Bunny and someone like Dave Chappelle, who suffered immediate backlash for his comments on the trans community: While Bunny might be infamous for a montage of jokes that throw barbs at specific celebrities, Lady Bunny’s schtick has always been to poke more fun at _herself_ in what amounts to little more than incredibly tasteless bathroom humor. With the exception of gay references that would likely go right over their heads, Bunny’s act would get as many laughs from a room of 5 year-old boys as it does the LGBTQ community that she’s devoted her life to entertaining. (And no, I am not suggesting Bunny try a spin on the Drag Queen Storytime circuit). Bunny’s most disarming when she’s serious. And she knows perfectly well when to joke and when not to. Those are the true test of a queen’s wit, when one can suddenly shift from scat jokes to a profound discussion of politics and few do it as well as Bunny, That’s why she’s beloved by millions more than should even know her name, and that’s why the new generation of superstar queens like Trixie Mattel, Katya, Willam, etc. owe just as much to Bunny than RuPaul herself. Is she _everybody’s_ cup of tea? Absolutely not. …but drag queens were never meant to be.

Learned about The Lady Bunny when I saw a docu-movie Wigstock that came out in 1995. Went by myself there were 2 other people in the theatre. It was the Dream Theatre in Monterey, CA. This was an iconic theatre that was opened in the 60's during the hippy era and had different types of seating love seats stretched out setting in the front sort of like a pool lounge chair and regular theatre seats. I recently learned that it was bought out and the building was demolished, was very disappointed that this happened. Monterey is rather conservative maybe this is why it happened. This is where you went to see all your indi films and LGBTQ + releases that never made it to mainstream theatres at the Del Monte Mall or the one in downtown Monterey on Alvarado.
