Listening to Lady Bunny during this interview honestly gave me the feeling like I had come home. She is such an informed and intelligent voice of reason and explains everything in a way that is so easy to understand. A simple message has become so confused. I just love her I really do. I dont think bunny is being ill will about saying "Ru isnt transphobic" however, again bunny kinda made a slight comment saying the show is called "drag race" and putting emphasis on the drag part... mama im from south jersey/philly area, anybody can do drag. Male ,female, straight, bi , gay , queer, trans, asexual, non binary... so again what is that comment??? This show gives people who arent as involved in the drag scene as "tunnel vision" look at drag. And again like what many other queens and fans have said, I think its kinda wrong to just have a show where only gay men can compete. I think it was cute for Bunny to defend Ru, but why not let Ru come down and talk about the subject.

Are you offended? 🤣
@trucougar094 жыл бұрын
Tbf it seems like anything Ru says is deemed problematic so why waste the energy you know? People can’t handle opinions that differ from their own now. I think it’s unfair to just assume people that aren’t a part of the drag scene won’t do their own research to learn more. I’m a straight chick that’s only known like four gay people, a friend got me to watch Drag Race and I’ve been trying to learn more about drag from other perspectives not shown on the show. Yeah there are things I won’t readily or easily be able to learn about super quickly, but if I misspeak or am just clueless about something or share my opinion...people would automatically jump to “she’s transphobic or anti-trans. It’s like people want others to be just all accepting right off the back without given others outside the loop a fair shot at learning or growing.

but here is a thing - if in the early days drag queens were working with/next to other drag performers like drag kings and trans performers and they were also a vital part of nightlife and the community (like bunny said), why not include them on the show? because in this case the "everybody say love" and the "we are all born naked and the rest is drag" aspect of the show is quite hypocritical.

Obviously there's still things we have to fight for. There's a lot of states that are allowed to fire someone from their job based off of their sexual orientation. But people like Bunny really helped us get to this point.
