I have a BA in polisci and I took several courses related to the “politics of food” and I can confirm it’s not simply “leftovers” being thrown away, it’s mostly fully edible produce that have slight blemishes that are thrown away because we’re trained as a society to recoil at the sign of anything less than perfect. Brad is infuriating.

Rant: Exactly. Picky children who “only need to take a bite”, people who want to impress family and/or friends with over buying food for a party or get together to show how much they can afford, fast food places and stores that over stock because people have been taught to not want to buy the last of something because there must be something wrong with it, gardens/farms that let people pick their own food but no one wants the one that’s off-colored or not perfectly round, school lunches tossed out instead of available to kids who can’t afford them (I live in a place where they are free now but they aren’t free everywhere), food for Instagram or tik tok or Facebook, showing off that you can take a really appetizing photo, youtuber muck bangs where they over eat to an uncomfortable amount at times, kids channels where their children or parents just eat food vs gummies, KZbin videos of trying to gain weight the fastest, youtube videos of pranking fast food places and buying a ton of food, pranking fast food places and dropping, throwing, smashing and other to food, those tik tok channels that do the “me when I pay” *eats tiny amount of food* “me when (other person) pays)” *insane amount of food that looks perfectly fine that the person obviously won’t eat* or those tik toks where people put food in their toilet or a ton on the counter. America is so wasteful. So much of that is the internet. I believe the internet is a huge impact to why so much food is wasted.

Facts, I worked in an upper scale grocery store in the produce department, I would throw away at least $200 worth of food every day, if not $1000. Whether it's the tomato potato that's got a green spot or the premade lettuce mix & Kombucha that just expired.
@bricknolty5478
@bricknolty5478 Жыл бұрын
@@BiGfootOwNs The fucked up thing? There are legal protections for people who donate food, so that they don't get sued if they donate food that is past the expiration date. Most food shelters will even come pick up the donations themselves! The store can get a tax credit for their donations! But that's extra time and paperwork. It's easer to dump it in the trash and write it off as a loss.

@@crypticshadows Well it depends a little. Remember that expiration dates are more so guidelines than rules. But in terms of knowingly giving out food with like mold and stuff that may be illegal but giving away bread because it expired yesterday will probably be totally fine both safety-wise and legally speaking. Generally there won't be retaliation if they something like that. Sometimes it is even encouraged in terms of tax benefits and such but it is decided on a year by year basis, stores don't like the idea of doing something costly and then suddenly the government is like "lmao we ain't doing it this year"

I’m going for a rapid fire on this one, boys. Brad somehow looks like every teenage boy who’s played devil’s advocate in history, ever. He looks like he took the label “teacher’s pet” with pride. He looks like if Dr Pepper was a person. I don’t know how to explain it, but I just know his looks reflect his morals. He looks like a micro aggression, but a person. I know he watches Love Island. If he was transported into the 80’s he most certainly would have believed in the satanic panic and would have heavily pushed for the imprisonment of baby sitter for ‘sacrificing babies to Satan.’ He looks like he has an irrational fear of pigeons. He looks like he calls dogs “doggos”. I just know he thinks eating a rare steak is super American and super cool but he secretly hates it because, let’s be real, it’s a rare steak. He looks like he bullies teen who get coffee from Starbucks He looks like mark zukerberg’s condescending brother, who has a degree in economics, and mansplains just about anything to every woman who shows even just the slightest bit of interest in him Alright bye now

Marx literally tackles that "what if someone works really slowly on a shoe" thing in the first section of the first volume of Capital. > Some people might think that if the value of a commodity is determined by the quantity of labor spent on it, the more idle and un-skillful the laborer, the more valuable would his commodity be, because more time would be required in its production. The labor, however, that forms the substance of value, is homogeneous human labor, expenditure of one uniform labor power. The total labor power of society, which is embodied in the sum total of the values of all commodities produced by that society, counts here as one homogeneous mass of human labor power, composed though it be of innumerable individual units...The labor time socially necessary is that required to produce an article under the normal conditions of production, and with the average degree of skill and intensity prevalent at the time.

I also bet way more Americans would leave if they wouldn't only border two other countries, one of them being Mexico

If they are not German citizens they cannot receive free health care, they have to opt out for private insurance. Also, that is not fleeing capitalism. Germany is a capitalist country with elements of socialism.

@@aw3286 people have to pay a copayment of 5-10€ for medical expenses, including immigrants. Not free, but basically free for Americans. Less than 1/15th what I’ve paid today for a 2 week supply of medication. I don’t care if you wanna say it’s “technically capitalist” as long as Republicans keep calling universal affordable healthcare “a socialist agenda” my response is gonna be “damn, you make socialism sound like a good idea” If you’re not bullshitting about what you think is capitalist, great, just getting to Germany’s situation would be a good start. But something tells me you’re gonna make excuses for why switching up our system would be a socialist takeover or whatever.

Whenever people bring up "the failures of socialism" they seem to casually forget that European socialist democracies exist and are doing just fine.

many disabled americans leave america to go to countries with free health care, if disabled people are willing to pack up their entire life just for healthcare, there should be questions raised about the us!

"No one escapes capitalism in a raft." I live in Finland and I meet so many Americans that moved here for universal healthcare or free education. Basically so that they don't lose their mental health just trying to stay alive.

I'm pretty sure all these mediocre CHUDs on social media who spread misinformation are funded by the Kochs and the American Enterprise Institute (or the Heritage Foundation).

I said it once and I’ll say it again… He is like noooo keep the cute dogs out of politicssss, but he seems like the type of guy to put a “my dog’s a republican” bumper sticker on his big pick up truck that he doesn’t actually need or use for pick up truck purposes.
