Inspiring and helpful tips. Following the guidances in the video helped me engage in the passage and understand the structure better. One of the most obvious improvement for me personally is I don't need to go back again and again to the passage when answering questions. Big thanks!

In question 4 the analyzing distinctions in various threatening situations could be correct if we consider that a gopher can analyze the distinction of when he has to produce the chirp and when he has to use the silent signal... isn't it .. ? @GreenlightTestPrep

Answer choice 4C talks about ANALYZING distinctions. We cannot really make any conclusions about whether they are performing any kind of analysis (although it may actually be the case).

Question 4, option A- the passage indicates exactly two types of warning sounds but the option mentions "at least two distinct". So how can we point out that there are more than two sounds? Is it because of the modal verb "can"?
@GreenlightTestPrep3 жыл бұрын
The article doesn't state that those two warning sounds are the ONLY warning sounds gophers make. So there are two cases to consider: Case 1: If the two warning sounds mentioned in the passage are the ONLY warning sounds, then it's still true to say that gophers can emit at least two warning sounds. Case 2: If it's the case that gophers can emit additional warning sounds, then it's also true to say that gophers can emit at least two warning sounds. So, either way, we are covered by using the words AT LEAST. Does that help?

Just wanted to clarfy the answer of Question no.4 , why is the choice C wrong ? The gopher is using the silent scream because it analyzed the situation ( predator is near) and a loud chirrup would put himself in danger. Could someone explain?
@GreenlightTestPrep7 жыл бұрын
Good question. However, we aren't told that the gophers use a silent scream when a predator is near and a loud scream other times. If we were told that, then there would seem to be some analysis going on. However, the passage only tells us that sometimes gophers use a silent scream, and sometimes they don't. The author later suggest why this might be useful, but this isn't the same as suggesting that the gophers do, indeed, perform some analysis.
