Back in the early mid 60’s I had several paper routes. All my change was 90% Silver. I decided to Keep all the Halves and Dimes. Today I still have most the Halves, around 100 of them. What my siblings didn’t find and blow on candy.

Brad, if I had to guess, this was likely the site of an annual fair or festival. My dad and I found a "Harvest Home Festival" site in PA 45 years ago, and it produced like this site did, but probably three times the volume. We found others that produced as well. It makes sense that coinage was dropped as these festivals had lots of game booths and vendors. Great dig, keep it up!

Indeed , I commented same thing. Random bricks probably leveled the rides they brought in and coins scattered probably fell out at ring toss or ping pong ball in fish bowl games

When I was 5, now 71, I dug up a handful of standing liberty quarters next to my Grandfathers old grape arbor. he died in 1936 and all were dated prior to that date.

Did you keep them? I have the coins that were in my great grandmother's, dad's, and brothers pockets when they passed away. Sister stole everything in mom and dad's house when mom died.

Shout out to your hunting friends for allowing you to bring us to their honey hole! My guess is the mystery item is an early, cheaper version of a watch fob just based on the shape of the hole, purely conjecture though.

I was told that men working in the barns lost coins from their pockets, the coins became part of the muck and straw cleaned out of the barns that was then transferred to the fields. That might account for how so many coins wind up in a field - maybe there were a lot of workers losing coins in this farmer’s barn! What a great day - congrats!

Great video, awesome dig and amazing finds. Brad, I was wondering if maybe you could throw in from time to time an approximate value of the coins you find in today's values, that would be awesome bro. Like is a half penny from the early 1800's worth like a dollar today? Three dollars? Oh, I'm sorry, I just saw that you don't reply to your followers' comments here, too bad, what is the point for writing???

Many old colonial homes had plank floors with cracks in between and mats on top. Coins would fall between the cracks and end up in the dirt below. We have a log home and our kids were always stuffing coins in the cracks in the logs. We still find them today 30 years later. There was once an 1836 church down the road that was dismantled years ago. One of the carpenters told me he gathered up a few handfuls of coins when the floorboards were torn up.

Love your content. Wish you wouldn't spray your coppers when they come out of the ground. I really think Aquachigger's on to something with his approach to cleaning coins. I've only had the opportunity to try his method twice, but I think the coins came out better than spraying them both times.

Incredible site to dig! Generous folks to share with you. Congrats on your first SLQ they have a beautiful design. In 1925 they "recessed" the date around a box to help with wearing off so quickly. The complete Jaw Harp is an awesome find and high up on my list to dig and the NY State Copper is killer! Congrats on an epic hunt. I am envious of these Colonial sites. We just don't have many of them down in the South. Enjoyed the video.
