This business that we are doing has changed things for us. After working for the cruise limo for 16 years I said I did not want to work for anyone else and this was my job on the cruise for a while , I look for work when I came off the cruise ship every company I applied was like you overqualified so my wife said to me you have a career already she said just reachers it so I did .

Don’t even need $500 bucks. When I started I would rent floor buffers(175) from Home Depot or Menards for less than $100 for 4 hrs then they tack $1 each extra hour after that. I would rent one of those and buy my encapsulation soap so I didn’t have to rinse and buy carpet bonnets and that’s how I cleaned carpet until I could afford the portables and truck mounts.

In this economy it’s tough to get customers. Property managers and apartments and the only reliable customers but you need to be legit and have $1mil in insurance to get on the vendor list

@@joesullivan2233 plenty of carpet cleaning companies doing just fine in this economy.

@@joesullivan2233 I used to strictly be a vendor for apartment complexes. Where I am you make trash money doing apartments unless you get their hallway cleanings, or do 10+ apartments a day per employee. Here in Michigan you’d be lucky to charge $100 for a townhouse fully carpeted with 3 rooms. It’s a grind most 1-2 bd apartments we’d get 60-80$. Got away from apartments and do single family residential and commercial like schools, factories etc. plus now do strip and wax, tile and grout, and refinish basketball courts for schools. Use the same 175 to do all forms of flooring just change the pad and chemicals. Don’t be scared to grow man. My biggest regret was waiting to long and being too nervous to take risk and grow.
