Nice vid, Jeff! I have two of your second-choice bags from Greenroom136 now (Rainmaker backpack and Bootstrap) -- but I am not a two-wheel commuter, and am guessing they serve my own needs better. Still, I look forward to your Bootstrap/Junk Monkey comparison vid! I like your style with the custom colors, too, btw. I'm a step or two more conservative in my wildcard choices, at least so far. I just don't trust myself to get complicated!

I will say... I have a custom bag from another company.... it use to be my favorite bag..... but I got to carried away with the colors. And I am stoked to get out a comparison video out shortly.

Yes! I've been waiting for this video! Great review as always my man! Did you by chance carry an cameras or camera gear in it? My camera backpack is nice enough, but I want something a bit more compact and this is definitely up the alley I'm looking.

I have actually, just yesterday. When going the few miles from one building at work to another on my scooter, I toss in my Sony a7Sii, gimbal and batteries. it worked great! I had filmed the talking head section of this video last week, and spent the weekend collecting the rest of the B-Roll I needed.

@@jeffgrantMEDIA Okay okay, that's definitely a plus for me. Are you just dropping them in there without the spacers you'd have in a stereotypical camera bag?
@jeffgrantMEDIA

MrPureinstinct I use a camera cube when not using a traditional camera bag. In this case, the camera and the batteries were in the cube, and the gimbal parts where placed in the bag around the cube.

@@jeffgrantMEDIA How much did that cut down on your space to carry other stuff? Like if you picked something up in the city or anything like that? I've been carrying a small sling bag around when we go to events now to have space if we buy or are given any products so we aren't stuck dealing with them as much. Now I think it's time to start taking my 70D with me places again instead of just my GoPro or phone.

MrPureinstinct the one I used yesterday was pretty large. So it took up a lot of space. But I have a bunch of different sizes. I have the small cube from GR136 and that is perfect for my camera, mic, second lens. But hat was at my house and I was at work. So I had to use what I had at hand. The GR136 cube and the Tenba I have still allow for a lot of space in the bag to pick stuff up in he city.

Hi Jeff, compared to a Metrorunner in cordura, would you say the Junkmonkey does better in rain? I like my Metrorunner loads except for how water seeps in when I get caught in a downpour.
@jeffgrantMEDIA
@jeffgrantMEDIA 4 ай бұрын
The Junkmonkey (without the quick a. Was zipper) will do better in the rain due to the flap covering the main body you the bag. A storm flap is great, but will only do so much if you are in a downpour.

Pro messenger bags are much larger. They are built big to haul lots of packages or oversized packages through city streets on bikes. The bag themselves will wrap around the body like a a hug. I have much larger messenger bags.

@@jeffgrantMEDIA You should really look into the Life Behind Bars Echelon S/M there are a lot of similarities between that messenger and the Junkmonkey. Even some improvements in my opinion and cheaper, which is always good!

F K thanks for the heads up. I’d never heard of life behind bars before. The bag looks interesting, but not for me. It’s to square for my tastes, and i don’t like how the laptop goes on the front of the bag. To me the Junkmonkey was very similar to my B.O. Gear Syndrome (now extinct) at half the price. The Syndrome just felt like home. Until I hurt my shoulder injury and I needed a double strap bag. Still have the Syndrome, never get rid of that, but when my shoulder healers i started working working with GR136 on their shoulder bags. And the Junkmonkey us that same feeling. With a few upgrades! The liner/ shell pockets from Chrome, and the shape and feel of the BO Gear. But I’m always looking for something new. I’ll be digging into the life behind bars bags more later today.

nice bag but seams to me way over priced for what you get specially when you add on some futures the price getting really high These bags by shape they remind me a lot of Crumpler bags which are way more affordable And for all my EDC i always ggo with Maxpedition cant go wrong with that and again way more affordable
@jeffgrantMEDIA
@jeffgrantMEDIA Ай бұрын
@@willidevegt8831 the price is in Malaysian Ringot. Adjust to your currency hand they are very reasonably priced. They are not like Crumpler bags ( at least not the old Crumpler that made great bags. Not sure what the are like these days). They are more like the old BO Gear Sindrome.

@@jeffgrantMEDIA My currency is RM and what i ment is only the looks make me think of Crrumpler i dont know the quality of the bag Like i said before compared to bags like Maxpedition or Vanguard these bags arre over priced in my opinion and like i said before specially when youu do changes to the bag g/ add on the price very fast can go very high. for example the Northseeker i made a few changes to it to make it what comes standard with my Maxpedition falcon 2 which i payed for RM 750 but with the changes the Northseeker comes to RM 946,- which by it self is already RM 200,- more but beside the price difference the Maxpedition is still the better quality / stronger bag in other words the Northseeker is way over priced no offence just my observation and opinion

@@willidevegt8831 non offense taken. I don’t work for GR136, I just work with them. Patrick (the owner) is a great guy. I can say the bags are top quality, and the Northseeker is one of my favorite packs. For the price you are getting a custom hand made bag. And for you, build in your own country. I don’t currently own and Maxpedition, 5.11 and and other tactical based brands. But if a say the quality of GR136 had been better than the Rush 5.11 bags I’ve tested or messed with in the past. And certainly on par with Maxpedition. I think I had a Vangaurd camera bag in the distant past (before KZbin) and I did not like it.

@@jeffgrantMEDIA No doubt the bags are good that was not my point. Like i said before when you add on things to the bag for every simple little thing you have to pay and that is pay for example RRM 33 to add some zipper pulls those arre things come as standard with any tactical bags. And all those small little add on that you have to pay for and again those are mostly things that come as standard with other brands make the bag lose its value. As an FYI 5.11 can not compare to Maxpedition thats like comparing a proton to a Mercedes although not bad but by far not as good as. As for Vanguard camera bags i`m not sure if that is the same company that sells the tactical bags but it probably is. And yeah i agree if you look with tactical eyes to a Vanguard camera bag they are not the same but than again i think a photographer wants totally different things from his bag than some one who do survival training gin the jungle. One thing i like very much about the bag brand is that like you say is made in Malaysia i wish there are more Malaysian companies to make high quality EDC stuf
