Nice first look. I just watched your more full review of the Bootstrap which is a bag I just recently received in the mail. Nice shout-out to Good Neighbor Insurance for pointing out the structural difference for cross-body vs. same-shoulder carry -- ultimately given my office day job, this is why I chose the bootstrap. But I like their stuff so much that maybe a Junkmonkey is in my future, too. Love both your color schemes!

Both great bags a tough decision on which one I like better. But I think I like the first one a little more cause of the strap on the shoulder.

Ya, the versatility of the Bootstrap’s shoulder strap is great. It is the perfect bag for your first messenger style bag. Just because you are right handed or left handed, doesn’t mean you will prefer to sling or vet that preferred shoulder. So it is much easier for you to figure out which side you will carry the bag on with this style strap.

Both bags are killer. I started with the Bootstrap (black and red bag). So I will be using and reviewing that one first then I will test out the Junkmonkey (green/grey/yellow). Stay tuned to see the the full reviews of both bags.

Great first impressions! Can I ask if the weight of the bags is an issue at all? And also is the cam strap comfortable for long periods? Thanks!

Rhys Westwood I didn’t find the bags weight to be an issue at all. For reference, muse to daily carry a R.E. Load deluxe custom messenger bag. That thing, empty was HEAVY! As for the strap. It was very comfortable for me. I wore it for long periods of time. Daily commuting by scooter, walking around the city tossing it in the car for a day trip, ect. Both the bootstrap and Junkmonkey were great all around bags, but my peeps l preference is this Junkmonkey right here. The strap fits my carry style better. I highly recommend the Junkmonkey as your next messenger bag.

Let me make a small amendment to my first reply. I only took a cursory look at the video title. I just saw Junkmonkey. I actually forgot I did one first impressions video for both bags. I did use both bags in roughly the same environment. This was pre- pandemic so we did go into Philly quite a bit back then. The cam buckle strap is great if you are car or train commuter. It is much more comfortable to wear over one shoulder. For the car, I personally just toss the bag over one shoulder for the talk in and out of the building. For the train, when I’m not sitting, I sling it over one shoulder so I can hang my arm over the bag to prevent thievery.

Hey Jeff! Thanks for your great reviews! I watch all of it (Bootstrap and Junkmonkey). But i cant descide which one to buy... i use it only for commuting to the office by bus and i had to fit my training gear (Shoes, Towel, Shorts) in it two days a week. Im not a Backpack-guy... i prefer cross body messenger bag. What do you say? What is better in my case?

Michael H. I feel there are 2 differences between the bags. The Junkmonkey is more of and urban look and the Bootstrap has more of an office vibe. The junkmonkey is made like a true messenger bag, and has features for commuting by bike. Where the bootstrap has a bit more square look for fitting a laptop and what not. While both can carry the same things ( laptop, cloths, camera gear) each has a different feel to them. But the main difference is the strap. Both can be slung over one shoulder or worn cross body, but if you intend to wear the bag cross body all the time I recommend the Junkmonkey. If you want to sling the bag over one shoulder go with the bootstrap. The bootstraps strap (that was hard to type) is not angled and has a movable shoulder pad. So you can make sure you are always wearing it comfortably on one shoulder. Where the Junkmonkey has an angled strap and the padding is attached, which makes it more comfortable to wear cross body. This is intended for bikes and motor cycles. For a visual reference to this. Check out my Meteomonger | which trap to buy video. The quick release is the strap that comes on the Junkmonkey and the cam chuckle is the strap that comes in the bootstrap.

jeffgrantMEDIA So i finally got my Junkmonkey a week ago. 🥳🥳 The only thing i can complain about is the size (and maybe the stiffness, but is the way that the material is). The Bag is a bit wide for my taste. Especially in the Bus. I always keep my bag on my lap and it wider than the seat .... but ist my fault because i choose the large one 🤷‍♂️ But i do like it! Thanks again for the video ☺️

If I remember correctly, you can add a grab handle to the bag. But this is a true messenger bag. This is designed to wear while in 2 wheels. It’s not a travel bag. Though I have personally done a lot of traveling with messenger bags over the years. I recommend double strap bags for travel.
