Davidson on Monday announced she was scheduled to have a partial mastectomy in the first week of July and then would take leave from Parliament to recover from surgery and begin further treatment.

Has NZ politics gone so low, that even a personal health emergency gets politicised and used as a platform for a political agenda and to make it almost impossible to roll Marama from leadership, because now if they do, they'll look like they stabbed her in the back while she was sick. There is increasingly little about the Greens that holds any mana at all. That being said, I do hope that she makes a speedy recovery, but find her political comments at a time like this detestable.

I am so sorry to hear your news, Marama. Be sure to take good care of yourself. You've spent so much time advocating for other people, now is the time to devote all of the care to yourself. You are a jewel that shines brightly in this world & silly cancer is not going to stop you from being you! Thinking of you at this difficult time & sending you my aroha & best wishes. 😮🫶 P.S. View Cooper Alan's song "Feel like hell today". Possible anthem? 😊🫶

An awful piece news from Marama. Cancer can be and often is life threatening Ten years ago.after being diagnosed with colon cancer metastasized to my lung, all you have is the wonderful medics, nurses and surgeons that gave me hope of survival. While often derided, our country's health care system more often than not come through for us. I feel that I dodged a bullet also made possible by my family. I feel for Marama, because cancer is a situation shared with thousands of other New Zealanders seek their survival from taxpayer New Zealanders who as one and probably don't think much about it make surviving cancer possible. In a sense and because our forbares had the foresight to introduce a publict health system contributed to by every one for everybody's benefit based on need, not a ability to pay crippling health insurance premiums. For all our quarky little was we still reach out and often succeed in providing eachother a safe warm place to live, create and the courage to endure.
