Benchtop Jointer making / Free PDF

PDF plan added. In this video I am building a benchtop jointer. I used my hand planer and some woods. It is very handy and awesome. The woods are now smooth and slippery. After watching this video you will be able to easily make a benchtop jointer.

Hi Greensaw! Thank you very much for sharing your plans and making the video. I am now cutting the wood to make one. I had trouble finding the measurement for the verticle support until I watched the video again and saw it is 184mm. It would have been easier if it had been on the plan. Great idea and a great video.I only hope you use a push block and/or stick when you are normally using these tools. You slipped once and almost put your hand into the that spinning blade. Not a good thing.

ahhhh damn it, now i want to make one. that came out nice, it’s simple, strong, and works great. i like it ! the only thing i wouldn’t do is run crap pallet wood thru it and take the chance of chipping the blades. because then they’ll need sharpening and that will remove a lot of material for nothing. plus it’s hours worth of your time. just my two cents.

Todo bien hasta que pasa las manos tan cerca de las cuchilla, es cuestión de tiempo para que ocurra un accidente. Es mejor usar extenciones de madera, para empuje.

Schön, aber leider fehlt der Schutz nach dem Hobelvorgang. Ganz ganz schnell ist eine Fingerkuppel abgehobel Also bitte wie bei einer Hobelmaschine eine Schutzabdeckung dazu bauen, welche die Messer abdecken

Los planos son gratis y son muy útiles aunque este cepillo lo copie exactamente igual solo siguiendo el video. No se me habia ocurrido bajar el plano. Con esta herramienta descubri el canal. Muchas gracias

Nice job but you know that after 1 face and 1 side you need to use a planer to make the 4 sides square right?

It will square the planed face to the face pressed against the fence. So you can plane one wide dimension face first, then plane both sides square to that one face by flipping the board over always keeping that first face against the fence (now you have three faces that are square), then plane the last wide dimension face to one of the sides and you should have a perfectly square board.

Seems like a good reason to take a trusted straight edge with you when you buy your next one. (I always carry a 6" stainless steel rule with me anyway, but in this case I believe a 12" or 18" one would be more appropriate when you go shopping. Not as cheap as online, but, when accuracy counts ... ?)

Una consulta , me dedico a fabricar instrumentos musicales , trabajo con cedro cahoba entre otras maderaz mi pregunta es crees que será recomendable hacerla más robusta para sepillar maderas de 12 pulgadas de ancho 2 pulgadas de grueso y de 1 metro de largo ! También quiero hacer más larga guía y mesa! Será recomendable?

Saludos. Trabajo en madera solo como pasatiempo. Para tablas de 12 pulgadas de ancho le recomiendo usar la aplanadora manualmente o invierta en una aplanadora (jointer) de mesa. Estas aplanadoras manuales hacen muy bien el trabajo pero son muy peligrosas. Sufrí una cortadura en un dedo el mismo día que compré una.

You need to check the alinement of the tables this is caused by the outfeed table being a little high at the end or the infeed table or even both.
