A couple of fun details that came up after upload: -Turns out that it wasn't Helmasaur King that I chose for LttP last time. I actually chose the Dark Links. Even with that context, I still say Trinexx is better and Helmasaur King is still a worthy runner up. -It didn't dawn on me until I started editing that it was the fairy in Phantom Hourglass that was controlling the hammer, but I wanted to do the Hammerspace Hazbin edit so bad that I kept my silly confusion in anyway. -The six cameos that showed up for the SIX FREAKING STAGES callback were Mechassault Man, Quarter Guy, Josh Scorcher, Destiny Dragon Gino, ComicFoil, and Aramau the Fiery Secretary, in case anyone was wondering. Overall I'm super proud of this video and it's a great showcase of how far I've come, but I clearly still have a lot of room to improve and I plan on doing so. Here's to more adventures!

Your take on Zant is extremely good. I feel like way too many people, reviewers especially, miss the point of his character. Twilight Princess is about power and responsibility, neither of which Zant had. He wanted power so badly that he was willing to sell his soul to some higher power, and when he got it, he just put a facade of what he thinks a tyranical ruler should be. But ultimately, that power still wasn't his, and he never had what it took to be king. When I fought Zant as teen, I loved it because it was wild and unique and fun. Now as an adult, I love it because it tells the entire story of his character and his downfall, *and* all the former factors.

fun fact! when i first played totk, i was stupid and did not consider shooting colgera's weak points. i defaulted to the skydiving strategy. this made the fight significantly harder, since i kept getting hit by the spikes trying to make it through, but also *significantly* more fun. using arrows did not occur to me until i saw a countdown complaining colgera was too easy because that's all you had to do. bonus fun fact: when i first beat zant, i said out loud "holy shit that was GREAT" and dedicated a save slot specifically for fighting him because it was so much fun. good times thank you for the great video, i remember watching the original YEARS ago and really enjoying it. i'm so glad that i'm still here all these years later!

@@slateoffate9812 honestly the big thing that hurts Tears Ganondorf's overall story is that the translation effectively left out his motive of believing natural strength is the way to go & thus he resented the Zonai for relying on technology. I'm so happy Twilight Princess was number one. That game is my favorite in the series and one of my favorite games period. I also love how you dissected Zant's fight. To me, Zant was someone who by the end was at the end of his rope. He had been built up by this new power and was so confident throughout, but over the course of the game, you've torn away his control bit by bit, making his confidence wain more and more. By the time you fight him in the Twilight Realm, he knows he's lost his power but can't accept it. So he tries his best to use whatever power Ganondorf gave him he has left, but when that doesn't work, he basically says, "SCREW THIS! I'M DONE WITH YOUR BULLSHIT!!!" and just goes bananas. He's at the end of his rope with nowhere to go but is so critically insane and desperate that he quite literally throws every bit of himself at you, screaming like a madman. Man, I love Zant.

Something that should be done if they do a faithful remake of Zelda 1 is Clarity on Digdogger by adding a single new cave for the hint which is "Digdogger hates harmony of all kinds" (maybe with a picture as many newer fans will not know what he is) but the harmony in question is referring to musical harmony (something that isnt actually at play due to zelda being a solo game but the point is music) and it functions as a direct and indirect hint, it narrows it down but is still open enough to feel proud about figuring it out, while also allowing the "fight" to remain unchanged for the hardcore fans, he also is in my opinion closer to mini-boss level of monster (darknut, lynel, or talus. lynel even has the color=strength idea from the other standard foes and hinox in botw/totk) as outside of OoS he seems a random enemy dropped on you from nowhere rather then a dungeon boss. His difficulty is entirely artificial due to lack of Clarity and your just trying to find the answer as when you have it hes an utter joke. If a remade zelda 1 happens they could add a "challenge mode" little challenges that arent important to the main game at all like in pikmin 2, one challenge could be your in a room full of strong enemies and a digdogger when the challenge starts the recorder is used automatically and digdogger is immediately vulnerable, seems easy the puzzle was done for you, you gotta just finish it, heres the kicker, in links awakening there was a puzzle where you had to beat three enemies in a certain order and here digdogger is LAST, if you kill digdogger before all the others are gone you have to restart the challenge so his vulnerability is actually an impediment as now your dealing with idk a pair of ghoma, gleeok and now this small eyeball is bouncing around where if you kill it you immediately lose and gleeok is also a chaotic fight, things are flying everywhere and whos to say you wont confuse the digdogger for a fireball and shoot thinking your safe? A full on awareness challenge of keep your eye on this small creature while projectiles are flying at you at the same time.

Something i find fascinating about Twilight Princess is it seems to use Twilight in a interesting way, the people of the Twilight realm definitely seem content in a Quid-pro-quo mentality/Lifestyle (i do X for you and you do Y for me) and i love that the people between light and dark are seemingly Morally Grey, even midna is not exempt, she only helps link out of the dungeon to more or less force him to help her. And Zant has this too, he IS the antagonist for the Entire game until nearly the end when ganondorf is revealed as only then ganon makes his first true appearance, and i feel Zant did have if only a sliver of it some of ganon's magic left but didn't use it out of fear (a magic based safety blanket) which is very important when you think to after beating ganondorf, he tries the same trick from his failed execution when he killed the sage, this time zant shows up cracks his neck and ganon keels over, Why? Picture this, here you are fighting with the power a divine being has gifted you, but you lose to a being who is in ways your equal a man blessed by the divine, this was a potential outcome, you KNEW that. The outcome you did NOT see was this same warrior toppled for all purposes what was SUPPOSED to be unshakeable, the very god who gifted you your power, and then something not even the most sacrilegious would even think of, this GOD is asking for YOUR Help, YOUR Power, to beat a MORTAL who you could have possibly lost too but your god losing was unfathomable , thus you reject the request and leave this false god to his fate. Zant's faith was not just shaken, it was utterly annihilated, he saw the true face of his god, and instead of giving that power to Spite link, he chooses to be the bigger man and refuses, effectively making Zant the one to ACTUALLY kill ganondorf but the people of both worlds will never know as he is still the source of their plight and was presumably only visible to ganondorf. But that single scene shows a LOT about him, hes a guy who understands that he made an immense mess by paving the way to ganondorf's reign, hes here to help start the clean-up by removing the biggest thing first, the source of the entire problem.

O.o), Marbled Gohma, Mucktorok (okay, maybe not him >.>), all pretty decent fights, but Colgera...I don't care if he's piss easy; for me, what really matters in a Zelda boss fight is how it FEELS to fight, and this...mmmm feels GOOOOD, man! That Dragon Roost Island leitmotif...just...it's so damn triumphant! Almost like it's not just celebrating YOUR inevitable triumph over the threat of an infinite winter plaguing the Rito people, damn-near forcing them to invade the far corners of Hyrule to survive, but also Tulin for coming in to his own as a competent archer, bestest birb companion, and gosh-darn handsomest cutie-cute-cute-... AAAAAH I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!! I still want a plushie of this adorable little boi! Really helps he is the most helpful companion you acquire on your journey (seriously, dude damn-near puts Skeleton Archers from Minecraft to shame: hawkeyes here is a cracked crack-shot that could put Robin Hood to shame and I love him for it...which is really funny when you think about considering Link is practically Nintendo's Robin Hood!) What was I saying again? Oh yeah, Colgera...best boss fight in the game that isn't the final boss fight. Actually, funnily enough, if you think about it, Colgera is the perfect first boss since he teaches you what you'll later need to do for the final fight of the game. PHENOMENAL first impression, especially from a dungeon that's memorable for all the right reasons. Honestly, another fair point when discussing stuff is what version of the fight. For example, wind waker or wind waker hd, or skyward sword vs skyward sword hd. The features in the hd, alongside control differences, can affect boss rankings. I'd personally rank them separately, despite being the same fights, skyward sword hd just can't read stabbing inputs with motion controls at all, and that's a huge problem given the point of the game.

I don't think I'd place him as high if I were to remake that list today, but I'm still not a fan for the same reasons I said way back then. Always love to see different takes from others though. Seeing someone love what I can't stand only further proves to me that while there really is no such thing as perfect media, there's no such thing as valueless either. Aside from that I think I'd agree with a lot of your picks. I think your number one pick is objectively the best fight in the franchise by a landslide even if it might not be my personal favorite, the sheer variety of the battle itself combined with the brilliant tonal shift is something that will always stand as a series highlight. One thing you can try during Maz Koshia’s fight during the clone phase: use the camera. The camera scans enemies that can be added to the compendium, and the monk counts as a humanoid enemy.

One of the things that I absolutely loved about the boss fights in tears of the kingdom. Oddly enough, they felt like the only boss fights in all of the legend of Zelda series except for maybe a few, In which you felt like you were actually saving the day by defeating these bosses. With the other boss fights in the series, they felt more like you’re taking them down to take with their guarding. And that’s the only reason why you’re there in that particular temple. But with tears of the kingdom as you’re fighting each boss, it feels like you were actually saving each region. But this is especially true with Colgor. Maybe it’s thanks to the dragon roost theme playing as your battling. But you really feel like you were taking on massive beasts to save peoples lives. They don’t feel like it’s a coincidence that you’re saving people on your quest. And when it came to me in the fight, I had unintentionally made things harder for myself. Because I thought I needed to use bomb arrows, and fire arrows to break the ice on the bosses, weak points. So when I fired that last bomb arrow I had. That was when the dragon roost theme started playing. And it’s just made the whole thing feel so epic.

I actually made a Fav Zelda Bosses list (written one) some years ago too. Latest game in the franchise at the time was Link Between Worlds. My fav boss still remains the same since then too. Hopefully it's on this list. I might remake that list one day myself, but I can say that #1 would stay the same for me. Now, I don't have time to watch this video now, but I will eventually since I still enjoy the franchise.

Zant also kinda got the final blow on the being who manipulated him, when he made that neck motion and you hear that sickening crack right before Ganondorf dies.

Minish Cap is my nostalgic favorite Zelda game, as well as being among the first I ever played. It was my first exposure to Zelda outside the timeline of the OG (my first were Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, and the Oracle Games) and I love every part of the game. Ironically, the Gyorg fight was the hardest for me as a kid, and I hated it so much that I didn’t actually finish the game until my first year of college. I'm glad to see the game get some love and JUST FREAKING REMAKE IT, NINTENDO, AGGHHHH

I'm glad you gave Zant a fairer shake than most have done in the past. I actually really like Zant, not as the main bad guy and final boss, but *as* that puppet to the bigger bad, and didn't think his mental breakdown at the penultimate dungeon was nearly as bad as others have made it out to be. Would I have preferred if Ganondorf got more foreshadowing than basically shoving him into the plot at the halfway mark? Sure, but Zant really made for a menacing, constant presence before then, and wasn't really shoved aside nearly as much as I've seen people complain. Also the final boss with Ganondorf was awesome, just as good as Wind Waker in my opinion.

Btw a neet bit for hemorok king when it does it's swooping attack it can hit it's head on the ship tower thing..... a funny thing too since that swoop only happens (if i recall right) when it's mask is broken

20. That bit at the end was unexpected. But absolutely hilarious. 19. I was going to make the joke you did at the end. Great minds think alike. 18. Remember. The ONLY CHECKPOINT IN THE GAME is at the entrance of the Great Palace. 17. No comment. 16. This is a pleasant surprise. 15. And then they gave the head & hands treatment to Stallord in Link's Crossbow Training. LAME! 14. Seriously thought Wizzro from Hyrule Warriors was a new version of Vaati when I saw him. 13. No comment. 12. Why did the folks at Grezzo give all the bosses eyes that you're supposed to hit? It's repetitive and dumb. 11. Yeah. Though personally. I seriously think they should've held off & put out this game on the Switch instead. 10. Must. Resist. Making. A joke. About. Turtle. Rock. From Link's. Awakening. 9. No comment. 8. And then the Sand Wand came back in A Link Between Worlds. 7. No comment. 6. Still sad that this is Nintendo's first 70 dollar game. 5. I'm getting Jet Stingray flashbacks. 4. Bird is the word. 3. No comment. 2. Oh look. He became Dark Mist. 1. Zant going crazy. I think this sums up my thoughts perfectly "Is this the human condition of madness leader? It is"

I have a soft spot for the Moldorm fight in Four Swords Adventures. This time the game *does* remember how many hits he has, his redesign looks much more intimidating and he incorporates Shadow Link's colour changing except after every attack, meaning everyone will have to work together on multiplayer. He also duplicates after taking enough damage, leading to them becoming more dangerous than the annoyance he was in past games.

I've watched a lot of your countdowns, and I can definitely see the improvement as time went on. Not saying your first videos were bad, but as someone once involved in creative arts, that kind of growth can't be faulted. Great job. Think you might rank the Zelda final bosses? Even if most of them would be Ganon, I think it'd be interesting.

Spoiler warning for high ranked Zelda boss. Yeah, Zant was fun. His insanity made him very interesting and unique in Hyrule Warriors too, if a bit hard to master. Who gave that man an insanity bar? ^ -^

I'm glad you went with Maz Koshia instead of Thunderblight, because whether you love or hate Thunderblight depends on how good you are at perfect dodging and/or if you had electric resistance. For example, I am the latter.

Whats amazing about Colgera is that i didnt know you could hit it with arrows. I thought the icy weakpoints were too hard for an arrow to penetrate, so I just had Link divebomb him the entire fight. It wasnt til my....6th rematch in the Depths that i realized the arrows work
@Dudeman23rd7 ай бұрын
I'm continually astonished that more people DON'T know you can skydive into Colgera's weakpoints to hurt it. The game tutorializes the mechanic for you, there's pools of ice you dive through to break on the way up to the dungeon! It's how I beat the boss my first time!
@cato32777 ай бұрын
I think the issue is there’s a few ice dives in the rising island chain that actively discourage the mechanic by placing hard surfaces underneath them. It’s a blemish on otherwise masterful level design, because if I didn’t try again later on one that lets you hit a bounce pad underneath, I wouldn’t have tried it on Colgera.

@comfyghost7 ай бұрын
i actually talked with a friend of mine about why colgera was so easy, since she found it frustratingly easy coming off the other bosses, while i thought it was perfect as the first boss. however, we chose our first dungeon based on the logic of what the first dungeon we beat in breath of the wild was (for me it was the rito, for her it was the gerudo) so neither of us were paying attention to where the game was actually pushing us and came to a different conclusion; revali's gale was the most useful ability in breath of the wild, so most players would be heading to rito village expecting something similar, and well, they'd have been right.

Temple of the ocean king broke me, not because it was hard but because I was sick of doing it. I remember coming up to the temple for the last climb of the game. I just stood in front of the door and turned off the game to never play it again. Aside from not play the final boss it had really great boss. The crab vision boss was definitely the most fun and creative one for me. This game was the whole reason why I never played spirit track s either. 🤷♂

The first time I fought a gleeok was in TOTK in a side mission to rescue Zelda's golden steed. It's bosses like that which make noobs like me realize, "I should strengthen up a bit if I wanna tussle with this bruiser." The only thing scarier than a gleeok in that game are the Phantom Ganons #gloomdamage #bombfloweraresenal
