These lads are incomparable and very witty and very intelligent.

Even in those short snips, Swann harmonised and plays so tenderly... what an artist

Absolutely brilliant, i remember my parents had a record of their funniest songs. It was great to hear a lot of them again. The Omnibus song was a good one as well.

Did you know that Donald Swann set to music many of the songs from The Lord of the Rings? Spent a weekend up at Oxford playing them over for Professor Tolkien and his family.

I owned that sheet music, long ago. I also love his setting of the poem, "The Youth of the Heart".

The joke about Gammer Gurton's Needle (a 16th century play) is about the most obscure one I've ever heard!

Are you sitting comfortably - would go over the heads of many, but was always said before the story in "Listen with Mother". And "a hit, a palpable hit" is not exactly obvious.

We are Henry the Eighth, we are. Tip of the hat to Herman’s Hermits. If you’ll cast your minds back.

How very lovely. May I suggest Joyce Grenfell to fans of these two gentlemen? Thank you

Hi all, so I got here looking for Tom Lehrer's Greenjeeves. I can't find it anywhere on the internets. Could somebody help me?
@nicfripp41595 жыл бұрын
As far as I know Tom never sang Greensleeves, but his contemporary Allan Sherman sang this spoof kzbin.info/www/bejne/p3vRoXt_jLWCZ6s

The version done by the original F& S was my least favorite version, because they seemed to rush it. I wouldn't be able to follow if it wasn't for Tony Randal, & Lou Gottlib taking the time so the lyrics can be understood.
