Your filtration is good. Just one comment. If you have a lot of waste at the bottom and can not syphon it out, use a brine shrimp net to scoop it out.

Can't you trim some of the top edge off just enough to fit an aqua clear 110 on their ?

Nice pond..Maybe try using cable ties to surcure the feeder so that it wont fall into the water by mistake..Or just use some tape..That should work too..thanks for the lovely video...
@GreenwaterFish7 жыл бұрын
yeah I really should do something about that feeder haha thanks for the tip :)
@Badandy5387 жыл бұрын
Hi! During water changes do you leave your sponge filters in your pond as you fill it up with tap water? I usually condition water after it's filled but doing it this way would kill beneficial bacteria right?
@GreenwaterFish7 жыл бұрын
I'll address that in the Q&A. Thanks for posting!
@Iamadrummer7 жыл бұрын
Badandy538. You should always dechlorinate the water before adding it to a pond or tank. The chlorine and or chlorimines even for a short time can harm the fish. Yes not dechlorinating the water first can and will kill some of the benificial bacteria.
@Badandy5387 жыл бұрын
Jeff Frank I add water conditioner in the tank right before it starts filling up with tap water. Ideally i would love to have aged water that I could use during water changes but can't make that happen right now.

Hi! I'm a new subscriber, I love your videos and adore your fishes ☺ I have some questions... 1. I am going to set up a goldfish tank, it will be 300 l, ( 75 gal I guess, I' m from Poland). I want it to be planted - some Cryptocoryna and Echinodorus, and i want to have as a substrate sand on whole bottom. Is it good idea, both plants have strong root system and I'm not sure if they will grow in sand. 2. I wonder if fishes won't be swallowing the sand while searching for food or eating something frome bottom like gel food. I don't want them to be hurt in any way. What is better for fishes: sand (if yes what size, there are almost like powder or bigger 1mm, 2-3 mm) small gravel or bigger gravel? 3.How big the layer of the sand should be to keep it comfortable to clean and sufficient for plants? Thank you for answers and sorry if I made some mistakes, I hope you understood me 😊
@tayah60007 жыл бұрын
Im not a plant expert, but as for the sand theyll be fine, their gills filter that out

great video, how often do you test the water?
@GreenwaterFish7 жыл бұрын
to be honest with you, I don't test my water that often. I go by observing fish behavior mostly. Of course, I wouldn't recommend it to someone who just started fish keeping... I only test the water for real when I make big changes to the set up.
@marksguitars56177 жыл бұрын
Same here, I watch the fish for behavior, fins, breathing, etc. I keep mostly African cichlids (super easy) and some nano planted tanks with shrimp and snails. All my shrimp suddenly died. Thinking about starting to use a test kit. Thanks for the reply :)
@GreenwaterFish7 жыл бұрын
Ah sorry to hear about your shrimp.. Yeah sounds like a good idea! Shrimps are really sensitive, especially so to copper - perhaps the copper level in your tap water may be too high for them? Just a thought..
@marksguitars56177 жыл бұрын
yes, was looking into that. Snails and plants doing great. I'm going to test my tap water and compare to all the tanks. Thanks :)

The tub is too dark . It’s hard to see inside . Do you have underwater lighting ?
@manup3047 жыл бұрын
Hi Greenwater. Use VELCRO strips or Double sided tape to secure your feeder on the bottom. I would use velcro as it will be removable. You can find this at any drug store (walgreens, CVS, etc)
@manup3047 жыл бұрын
Oh, one more thing. If you use velcro, you can probably secure it right to the rim of the tub and avoid that stand altogether. Another thing you can do is drill two holes on the rim of the tub, then wrap one large 18 inch wire tie over the feeder itself. So put feeder on rim. Drill holes on each side, secure down with string or wiretie.
