Winter is officially in full effect, and here in North Idaho it's been a brutal one thus far. We've had bone chilling temperatures, and more snow than what we've gotten used to over the past few years. With that, I thought I'd introduce the newest member of our snow removal arsenal here on the channel - The Greenwords 80V Battery Powered Snowblower.
This is a great little tool that can be used by anyone, and it held up really well for my first use. In this video we'll unbox, setup, and thoroughly test out this new machine. Is this snowblower for you? There's only one way to find out!

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada where we have medium to heavy snow ( around 1 foot ), for residential use I think a one stage snow blower is good enough. You have a cute lovely dog and a great machine ! Thanks for the nice video !!

One thing to remember with any battery powered tool, be it mower or show thrower. Store the batteries and charger in the house during the winter months, or they will not last. Also when they become fully charged, take them off of the charger or you will shorten their tremendously.

Batteries just perform, charge, and prefer warmer environments. If a lithium ion battery is too cold it won't even charge outside from my experience.

I have one of these Greenworks Snowblowers! I bought it on a whim and I'm glad I did! I have a Handa 2023 HSS 1332ADT and it's a monster. The downside is that it's heavy and takes some effort. This Greenworks snowblower is very light and maneuverable! I have a 120' driveway, and multiple trails around the house to clear. The Greenworks (after a 5" storm) cleaned the entire area in 1 hour and used up both batteries. What a fantastic little machine. My wife loves it and even helps now with cleaning the snow ... but she uses the Greenworks.

I just picked mine up today on clearance at Costco for $375. Probably a return but it’s guaranteed. Just watched. 6:23 Video is saved. My toro gas didn’t want to start up over winter in Chicago so this is my backup.

I have this exact blower rebranded as masterforce from menards (home depot like store in the Midwest) and I love it. Had it for a few years now and it actually outperformed my 2 stage gas last year. (Not exactly a fair fight cause my 2 stage is from 1978) but none the less this is a solid blower and even in wet heavy snow it’s a beast.

I really enjoyed your video. It was very helpful showing the set up of the snowblower. The machine seemed to perform pretty decent considering the depth of the 2nd snowfall & cold temperatures. Thanks for a great review. I'll consider getting one of these for the sidewalks and light (4") driveway snow. My 32" Ariens 2 stage will continue to be my go-to for my 80' steep driveway with heavy snow.

I have a 40 volt snowblower for a couple of years and I just used it on January 11th because we had snow I'm from Wisconsin and it worked so good I could not believe it but I need to get another battery but I have no idea where to go if I go back to the dealer that I bought the store that I bought it from or have to order it but I love it my husband passed away so I'm on my own

Very well done! I was able to put mine together from the video basically without using the directions. What was different is that the right side handle WAS attached already. Got mine bec. - even though our double wide driveway is plowed - we're right off one of the Great Lakes and there's enough snow around the one car parked outside, the walks etc. to not have to worry about shoveing anymore! A concession I have made now that I'm mid 70s. And I didn't want to mess with a gas snowblower which are way more expensive this this little baby!

I ordered mine 2 weeks ago but still coming. There's a delay in the shipments because of the weather It's sitting in Wisconsin right, hopefully, I get. I do have the lawn mower and the leaf blow. From greenworks and I really love them now since my snow blower is coming. I shouldn't worry about the battery running out. Because I could use the other batteries for snow blowers in land mowers ,it's the same 80 v battery 😂

The battery stuff is starting to be pretty good. I have the 80v snow shovel, it was a backup to my gas snow blower as I was having issues with it starting and I would use it to do the whole driveway. Ended up buying the 2 stage 80v snowblower and sold the gas one. We hardly have any snow this winter but I have used it and so far so good. I have a video of it. The nice thing is the batteries also work in the chainsaw so they'll get plenty of use in summer too.

Have you tried this on an icy snow plow berm at the end of a driveway? Shoveling it is so hard!

Sorry for the late reply! I wouldn't recommend this for anything other than fresh snow.. I think an icy berm would be a match for this blower. I agree with you with the shoveling part!

Before you buy Greenworks, make sure you can get parts. I have the smaller 80v blower - the scraper bar is plastic that needs to be replaced regularly. My replacement has been suck at "Temporarily Out of Stock - Usually Ships in 10-14 Business Days" for over a year now (and they charged my card right away too). Without a good scraper this blower will pack a layer of snow down that is hard to scrape off with a shovel.

Nice video! 🙂 I reviewed the cheaper Greenworks snow blower. I was quite surprised at the power. It made the job much easer. I was using a shovel before that though. 😄 I'm not sure why one would buy the more expensive model though. I saw it in Costco and I was like… whoa! Having two batteries is nice, but you ran into the cold battery problem. 4AH should be better than 2AH. But wow, expensive! After watching your video, I feel like I saved money. To have more batteries, I ended up just getting the leaf blower. (Costco was having a huge sale.) So now I have three 80v batteries. They're only 2AH, but it seems very close to the same runtime. After about 14 minutes, the battery ran out of power. If I'm understanding the video right, you were getting about 18 minutes of runtime per battery. That doesn't seem right. Were your batteries fully charged? Also, my batteries seem to be doing better after a few runs. I'm not sure if it's because I got faster, if I simply lost track of time, or if the batteries need to be used a few times before getting full power. 🤷🏻‍♂ Once again, really good video. It looks like you (and even your dog too) had fun!

Hey thanks for checking out the video! I'm glad to hear that your more inexpensive snowblower from them worked out well for you. I do agree with you about the battery issue. It's not too big of a hassle, to have to change them out in the middle of snowblowing, but non-stop use would be ideal. Great idea with buying the leaf blower.. I really would like to try out their chainsaw for basic property uses. 18 minutes is what I estimated for the runtime per battery. I obviously set a timer, but with filming and changing camera angles etc. I did find start and stop a lot so that number may not be 100% accurate. The batteries were fully charged. I'll have to use them some more and see how they do! I really appreciate the comment and for you taking the time to check out the video. @@theidahopanhandlers Oh wow, I like so many Greenworks products. I already got the lawnmower, which was great for mulching leaves. (There's a video on my channel.) I also got the Greenworks 24V Lantern. I used it while using the snow blower in the dark. That light is bright! I like it a lot! I used it for around 20 minutes. And when I put the battery back on the charger, I was surprised that the charing machine didn't go on. It was like no power was used. I was thinking of making a video about the light, but I've been so busy with the blizzard. Well, more tired than busy. HA HA! 😄 I also received the inverter as a gift, but that was the 60 Volt Inverter. I don't have those batteries. So, that one is getting returned. Once that problem is cleared up, I should be enjoying the 80 Volt Inverter. There's lots of potential with that, but I'm not sure if it's as good as simply getting a Jackery or something similar. As for the chainsaw, I'm thinking of getting polesaw - something with a bit of distance. I don't want to lose any appendages, so I figured a long stick was a good way for me to get started. I probably should get a chainsaw though, as there was a recent incident with a fallen tree. (It wasn't my tree, but it shows how I could suddenly have the need to cut trees.) I'll probably get the hedge trimmer, as there's a torn bush that's been stabbing me while I was trying to plow the snow. VENGEANCE! The 24-volt line seems very useful for hand-held tools. I also have a Greenworks weed whacker. It's like the Leaf Blower - where I got it more because of the batteries. I didn't even test the weed whacker and I barely used the leaf blower. So, maybe next Spring I can put those two tools to good use.

So far I haven't noticed an issue. When it's wet and heavy I definitely may have to go over it for another pass, but as long as it's not too deep it works pretty well. Thanks for watching!

Hey no worries! I believe you may have subscribe to the channel (it doesn't always tell me who did) so thanks for that! Ultimately I think it's a good little durable machine. For a smaller, concreted driveway it would be perfect. I use it mainly for paths around our property as opposed to our long gravel driveway. Whooo Hooo! Christmas came early with this video for sure! As a wannabe wood worker, I love the old school horses in your shop! Those can support some serious weight! Big props for doing the unboxing and product build outside!!! THAT’S how you do a snow blower review!!! My Mom and I were cracking up during the intro!!! Lolly stole the show my friend!!! We were LOL so HARD when she was playing with her chew toy!!! OMG, she reminded us of a kid in a candy shop!!! She was having so much fun!!! Zero clue you were trying to make a video 😉!!! That thing looked frozen solid, probably a deadly weapon in some states! 😊Big chuckles!!! I have been eyeballing a Cub Cadet 3 stage blower to tackle the N. Idaho winters. First question I have to ask, is what made you decide to go electric? I was concerned the temp and the amount of snow would tax a battery operated machine. Do you know someone that has a battery operated blower or did you just do research and find a unit that met your needs? How long did it take to charge the batteries to 100%? Sorry if you mentioned it and I missed it. BTW: your property looks amazing covered in snow!!! 😊 😊 😊 My Mom and I were wondering how much of the blower was plastic and how much was metal. I am asking because in my neck of the woods, plastic does not do well in a cold environment. Ten degrees or less, it will crack IF it is not reinforced. Plastic will make it lighter for sure, but it can crack if out in the cold for any amount of time around here. Especially if you whack it against a landscape wall or your garage. I am not saying I have done that, I am just saying. 😊 What are your thoughts on the wheels? I will be interested in hearing what you think after using the blower for some time. They look solid, but they seem to be a little small. Assembly looks to be a breeze for sure! That went together very quickly and looked to be headache free. Almost 2 feet in clearance width and over a foot of snow removal is pretty impressive, especially at that weight. It looks well balanced. Definitely quieter than my old Toro. I think it had a Briggs and Stratton in it, but it sounded like a Hemi 😊 FYI: Crackup alert!!! Lolly playing with her chew toy had us dying!!! Also, for a second it looked like she thought the snow coming out of the shoot was water out of a hose. Her fun meter was pegged at 1,000! You can tell a dog is well loved by its demeanor. She loves being near you and it is OBVIOUS she is having fun and loving life!!! Great job to you and Tessa for all your hard work training her. I am sure she has tried both your patience, but great job overcoming that and staying on mission. Before too long, she will have her own channel!!! 😉 I was impressed with the blowers throw. You said you only had about an inch or two and it looked to be throwing the snow between 4- 6 feet when clearing a path to your gym. I did not expect that. You also plowed a pretty wide path. Very impressed with its performance after the big snow fall. I was curious to see how it would handle the big snow load and weighing only 50 pounds. It looked like it took some elbow grease to get it started but it made short work of that pathway to your gym np! Bigger tires may have come in handy, but it is only spec’ed out to handle 13 inches, so bigger tires may not help. VERY impressive to move all that snow in less than 7 mins!! BTW: Love Lolly’s winter jacket! Still cracking up!!! We had no idea what her chew toy was but when you told her to get her lobster, we both cracked up!!! Not a typical chew toy in the Midwest but spot on for the PNW!!! Major chuckles!!! At the ~14:30, did I see LED headlights? If so, boy will those come in handy. With shorter days and snow coming at all hours, that is a nice feature!!! Just so I am crystal clear, you can have two batteries in the machine at once, but only one is supplying power. When the primary battery is depleted, there is a failover, and the secondary takes over? Is that the case? In your test, it was just too cold, and the fail-over did not work. Is that what happened? How long to warm the battery? Were you able to clear your driveway with both batteries? OMG, love the pathway you cleared at the ~17 min mark!! I cannot believe you have that level of beauty on your property!!! Heaven on earth!!!!! The snow in the trees and the snow on the ground OMG, how gorgeous. Total Winter Wonderland!!!! Is that your compost station in the background? Were you able to clear everything you wanted to in the 38 minutes of plowing? That pathway to the tractor looked to have drifts over 2 feet. VERY impressed that the blower was able to muscle through that. What other snow removal tools do you have in your arsenal? Do you need any other snow removal tools? Haha the sawhorses! They actually came with the house when we moved in! Talk about the most expensive sawhorses ever. Definitely had to do the whole review outside! Man Lolly was having the BEST time and had zero cares in the world. As annoying as it can be while trying to film I absolutely love that dog. The wheels didn't seem too bad! They are a little small, but at the same time it's a self-push blower.. I think if they were somehow mechanically propelled, bigger wheels would be much more needed. So I will admit, this was actually given to me as a gift.. so that is why I went electric! I believe it took 30-40 minutes for the batteries to fully charge. The bulk of it definitely seemed to be made out of hard plastic.. except where the snow is collected. That was all metal, and seemed fairly well protected to me. The assembly was absolutely a breeze!! Aha I believe our snowblower growing up was a red Toro with the B&G.. that things was a workhorse! Lolly was having so much fun with her lobster!! She probably has a few toys buried in the yard, and one day she miraculously found her lobster and it's been the best toy of the winter! She loves to play hide and seek with it! Thanks for noticing and for commenting on her! She has definitely tried our patience, and continues to do so.. but she shows traits consistently now of how we think she'll be as an adult pup, and we are so excited and happy about that. She's made a great companion thus far! Ha! Maybe she will have her own channel! In the deeper snow it definitely took some effort to get it started, but once going it made fairly quick work of the snow! Now if only I could get it up on the roof... :) Ahh you did see LED headlights! I think I forgot to mention those.. but yes there are a couple small headlights that would probably suffice to see where you're snowblowing. I haven't tested it out yet in the darker hours! You are 100% correct about the batteries.. and explained that better in your question than I did on camera! Two batteries can be in at once, but only one was supplying power so it was a little disappointing that it was too cold to go to the next one. This probably wasn't the best idea, but I just stood in front of the wood stove with the cold battery in my hand until it was warmer.. it just took a couple of minutes. I didn't really attempt to clear the entire driveway.. not in that video anyways. I just used it to clear paths around the property! Maybe I could try it one of these days! It was a very pretty day scenery wise! I definitely do love where we live! That was our compost station in the background! We've been adding to it all winter.. but not a lot of composting has been accomplished in these temps lol I was pretty impressed by how much I was able to clear. I think if I did attempted to get the driveway 'snowblowed' I could make a pretty good knock on it. I like having this thing around because it's something that Tessa could easily use when I'm gone. The only other snow removal tool I have in the arsenal is a shovel :) I can suffice with just that and my tractor, but this definitely adds another tool in the toolbox! I have been doing a ton of research on snow removal options since we watched this video and saw the unfortunate carport collapse. I am thinking about a power shovel for the porch and stairs, a 2 or 3 stage blower for walkways and areas around the house, and a MIGHTY Kubota skid-steer with a blower attachment. Now, keep in mind this will be dependent on what size money tree I have on the property, but I am trying to see if I can replace the tractor and get a bucket, set of forks, dozer, snow blower, and excavator attachments to do everything I need around the property. The first job will be to work on the goldmine next to the money tree 😊😉!!! Thanks to your videos, you got me thinking about winter safety, not only the snow load, but making sure my vents are cleared. Roof collapse is a serious threat, but I also started thinking about carbon monoxide poisoning and a battle plan to keep my vents clear of snow and debris, especially when you get those big storms. Hehehehehe, yes that would be a video that would go viral in a hurry. Danny S. snow blowing his roof on an insane pitch. Yeah that was a hefty amount of snow for sure. Thankfully I have a tractor and I can use that for my heavy duty snow needs, but this works well in tight spaces and walkways etc..

Yes you can! I believe I misspoke in this video because the machine was brand new to me, but it really only runs on one battery at a time. The battery slot on the right is for the battery that runs it, while the slot on the left is just for storage.

I'd say it all depends on your situation to be honest. For a typical residential driveway I think it would work very well. For a long, graveled driveway I think one would need other means to take care of the snow more efficiently. I use it mainly for walking paths and small areas that I can't reach with my tractor plow, and it works great for that!

To prevent this they should draw from both batteries at the same time in parallel and then you would get 2x the run time and not have to go in as often or have this cold issue. .

No, I didn't quite understand it at the time of filming this video but the battery slot on the right powers the machine and the slot on the left is simply for storage. However, we're not typically snowblowing in 70 degree weather so the batteries perform poorly when just sitting in the cold so I now like to only keep one battery in the machine to run it, and then I'll keep the others inside where it's warm until they're ready to be used. Wish i got one like this I got the one with the hard plastic paddle and only came with one 2ah battery so pretty useless for anything more than sidewalk work. Lucky I was able to get a ego snowblower for 200 used with 2 batteries sadly with a rubber auger but still a good brand so I'm not to upset about it especially for the price.

40 minutes blowing powder off 2 batteries, I think cut ot in at least half if it's heavy wet Minnesota snow. Probably ok if you have a short 1 car driveway and a sidewalk but im thinking gas is necessary for most people

I'm just outside of Spokane so, you know the winters we get , would you say the 80volt is best way to go or can I get away with a 40/60 volt blower?

Absolutely I do. Hmm.. it’s hard to speak for how the other voltage blowers perform, but I honestly don’t think I’d want to go with anything less than the 80V so that’s what I’d recommend. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching 🌲

I just picked mine up today on clearance at Costco for $375. Probably a return but it’s guaranteed. Just watched. 6:23 Video is saved. My toro gas didn’t want to start up over winter in Chicago so this is my backup.
