Great discussion. I side with Alex strongly on this. They need Vrabel to stabilize the ship

This is by far the best patriots content and debate about the future of the patriots organization. U answered all my questions on both candidates and gave me clear precise arguments for both sides. I'm going to be happy with either or. Leaning more towards vrabel and hope to find good OC and DC talent if not now, in the near future.

Latest greatest isn’t what the Patriots need right now. They’re too f’d up. They need the experience, discipline, toughness and leadership that Vrabel brings.

Byron Leftwich might have been chosen for an interview as a potential OC

I don’t get the low ceiling argument against Vrabel, he took Tannehill as far as he could and with the potential Drake has, if coached properly, the ceiling becomes limitless. He’s going to bring discipline, consistency, and a toughness this team has lacked. After the disaster with Mayo, we better hope to get someone like him here.

Alex won the debate. Way more succinct points. Evan got frustrated and started straw manning Alex’s points a bit too much.

Yep Evan was making it seem like you can’t hire good coordinators lol like there will be another Ben Johnson he is not the last good coordinator
@keithwilbur258913 күн бұрын
For Evan saying there's a ceiling with Vrabel at 9 or 10 wins.. Mike McDaniel was the NFL's shiny new toy with an innovative offense. Like Johnson is now.. Now they were talking about firing him in Miami because they peaked and haven't won anything.

I feel like Evan is ignoring the fact that Vrabel hires amazing coaches. Matt Lafleur was his OC, Arthur Smith was his OC. Both had the talent to become head coaches and despite the turnover (which happens on every team), the offense still excelled despite having subpar talent. He's also ignoring the fact that the Lions are one of the best offenses because of their talent as well (Gibbs, Montgomery, LaPorta, Jameson, St. Brown, best O-line in the league, one of the most accurate passers in the league). It takes talent and coaching and as we saw in Tennessee, Vrabel's teams consistently overperformed the talent on their roster.

Love watching these two go at it hilarious and informative But I think what make a compelling HC and what players buy into is smarts ....does the coach really know what they're talking about because players can sense especially veterans can sense when a coach is in over his head..... it's what happened to Mayo, Patricia, McDaniels (as HC) so if Johnson has the answers ultimately the players will respect that ..... they respected Belichick and let's face it he wasn't miss congeniality

Lol “I don’t like that we yell at each other” - of course that’s the nerdy, tight pants, Ben Johnson guy “I like that we yell at each other” - of course that’s the blue collar, hard nosed, Mike Vrabel guy

if this was the year 2000, Evan would have preferred Mike Martz for patriots HC (for the greatest show on Turf) over the young Belichick.

I love this show but good lord Evan can be frustrating. He mostly argues out of emotional opinion whereas Alex actually comes with facts and logic. Evan is like that donkey from family guy - “No, No, No, NOOO” like dude.. open your mind a little bit. Be willing to hear opinions that go against your own

Wait did Evan just say we might bring back Josh McDaniels???!!?? Why?!?! Just go get a young and upcoming guy instead of trying to run am early 2000's offense in 2025, has Robert not learned anything since Brady left??

@CelticsSupreme15 күн бұрын
I disagree with it being a win/win, if you hire Vrabel, the offense will still be horrible, he will want to run the ball 50 times and take the ball out of Maye's hands which will hinder his development. Ben Johnson can actually maximize Drake while Vrabel will sure fix the defense but the offense will stop be bottom 5.
@Joe-dj62615 күн бұрын
We need an experienced head coach who has had some success. I love Ben Johnson but we can’t waste another year of Drake Maye with a first time head coach.

Echo Evans sentiment can't bear the thought of another predictable "run run pass" conservative offense....we've got a quarterback we don't want to have him go into another season as a glorified game manager....I want Ben

PS Don't trade Milton....I don't know what he'll become but I don't want another team to find out ....and if Maye goes down Milton will give the D fits trying to adjust

Hire Vrabel. Offer Ben the bag $$$ to be our OC. Makes an offer he can’t refuse
@Paul-71714 күн бұрын
The problem with finding a great OC (Alex's argument) is that they get poached for the HC job because the league is trending that way (Evan's point) and the team has to restart the offense If the HC is an offensive innovator the team can evolve with the rest of the league.
@RyanRenteria14 күн бұрын
this isnt always a bad thing. if you have an offensive guru HC, you can also get stuck with his scheme. look at the dolphins, their offense has essentially been solved by the leagues good DCs and they cant change it until they fire mcdaniel. if you have a CEO/Defensive HC, you can just change your offense between seasons when you need to adjust. for example lamar and the ravens going to monken from roman once they felt romans scheme was getting stale. the bills did this too, quickly moving on from dorsey to brady without missing a beat.
