As a lesbian who's been burned so many times from some very promiscuous women. It's the perfect amount of animosity when you truly don't care to be theirs anymore but you enjoy knowing they can't undo the past. Just my personal relationship with this song.

The love is gone he's not gelous anymore, there's no more pain, but along with a sense of relief, something inside him is sad..of not being sad anymore, when love is over you feel that sense of emptiness, you're resigned, quiet and melancholic. Dulli probably thought it'd be so cool to strip the original song off the (Amazing) Phil Spector's arrangements. so he put some cellos on everything like it's some kind of Norah-Jones-Starbucks dressing.
