This song resonates with my soul. I love the part where he sings. 'You are the naked Angel in my heart. You are the woman with her legs apart. It's written on the walls of this hotel.' As a lesbian who's been burned so many times from some very promiscuous women. It's the perfect amount of animosity when you truly don't care to be theirs anymore but you enjoy knowing they can't undo the past. Just my personal relationship with this song.

He performed this last night at his show at the Teragram Ballroom. It was transcendent. For the life of me I can't figure out how Greg isn't huge.

I think he is very popular, his shows sell out. But I get what you mean. While I wish he was huge, I'm sometimes selfish enough to be glad he is all ours.

Lyrics The walls of this hotel are paper-thin Last night I heard you making love to him The struggle mouth to mouth and limb to limb The grunt of unity when he came in I stood there with my ear against the wall I was not seized by jealousy at all In fact a burden lifted from my soul I heard that love was out of my control I listened to your kisses at the door I never heard the world so clear before You ran your bath and you began to sing I felt so good I could not feel a thing I stood there with my ear against the wall I was not seized by jealousy at all In fact a burden lifted from my soul I learned that love was out of my control And I can't wait to tell you to your face And I can't wait for you to take my place You are The Naked Angel In My Heart You are The Woman With Her Legs Apart It's written on the walls of this hotel You go to heaven once you've been to hell A heavy burden lifted from my soul I learned that love was out of my control I learned that love was out of my control I learned that love was out of my control

The love is gone he's not gelous anymore, there's no more pain, but along with a sense of relief, something inside him is sad..of not being sad anymore, when love is over you feel that sense of emptiness, you're resigned, quiet and melancholic. Maybe i'm wrong, maybe i'm insane, maybe is only that my english is not very good.

DULLi takes Cohen's beautiful words and drag them through this terrible ugly mess of dull music, boring chords and ugly melody. Sorry (no, I'm not). OK, back to the beautiful Spec's version on my precious vinyl. So, long, Gregory Peckory.

Dulli probably thought it'd be so cool to strip the original song off the (Amazing) Phil Spector's arrangements. so he put some cellos on everything like it's some kind of Norah-Jones-Starbucks dressing. The whole thing sounds LIFELESS and WRONG! Whatever happened to the cool 'Jeff Bridges of indie' sharp-dressed dude who sang ' Gentleman' and 'What Jail Is Like'? Just another faker ruining other people songs?
