I'd trade Katt Williams and every black circuit comic too. Greg was great. No need to sht on what others think is funny though. Bert Kreischer sold out arenas just like Jimmy Buffett did. I don't like either but I don't stick my pinky out while I type that they're Bert's not funny or Jimmy Buffett sux.

@jonathanramos84142 ай бұрын
I'm happy greg has gotten a rediscovery. I was so heartbroken when he passed. He truly was an overlooked talent. He had so much wit, charisma, charm, and even good looks to top it off. And even though greg was Colombian he never lived off his "latino" persona for comedy. He was very much his own person and developed original material for his comedy. He could easily just have been another george lopez or Gabriel inglesias. latin comedians that just base their entire material off latino culture and not much else. He was very one of a kind and it hurts he's gone so many years later

It looks like the newspaper that reported on the show cancellation didn't have all the facts. Greg was referred to as "Cuban-American" within the article. According to Wikipedia, his mother hailed from Spain while his father was originally from Colombia.
@jonathanramos84142 ай бұрын
Yeah even though greg was Colombian he never based his material off his "latiness" alone. You often see that with latino comedians like George lopez or Gabriel inglesias. I like those guys but that's what they make money off. Greg definitely was smart enough to develop his own material. It hurts he's gone. I haven't seen any comedian like him since.
@WestchesterNYMilton2 ай бұрын
@@jonathanramos8414 I agree and appreciated that about his comedy style; it wasn't focused on ethnicity. The guy was quick and brilliant. The only American comedian of Latino heritage that comes to mind who was somewhat similar was (I think he still tours but don't see much coverage of his current stand up shows) Pablo Francisco. Although he has a little comedic material here and there about his ethnic background, his humor largely centers on topics that every audience can relate to and laugh about. Like Greg, Pablo has South American lineage; I think both his parents originally hail from Chile.
@markfogerty85612 ай бұрын
@@WestchesterNYMilton South Americans usually have more European sensibilities. They obviously wanted Giraldo to act Dominican or Puerto Rican.
