Actually he was injured doing gymnastics. And I love it when people blame the system rather than the athlete for injuries. Not executing the movements properly, not warming up properly, and not being under supervision of the following cause injuries. Not CrossFit itself.

I hear all of the people bashing the man's shape, but not listening to the man's words. I do not know him nor do I care to know him, but the ideas behind CrossFit are strong and functional to real world scenarios. The question to ask in order to apply the same standards to other professions is "Do you care how well your doctor can operate on himself or do you care that he can operate on you?" This is what should be gleaned from his lectures. How can his ideas help you.

@crossfitcostamesa Sorry, 217 on the first lift in 2009 then 508 in the lift in 2010. Chris Worden is his name and we'd be happy to introduce you to him.

@theconservativelib We have a male athlete who pulled 225 on his first 1RM in early 2009, in late 2010 he pulled 505 with no more training than our daily workouts. The so called respectable gyms and coaches that have been lost have primarily been because of personality conflicts, nothing more.

@crossfitcostamesa If you guys trained somebody like that then congrats. Seriously that is an impressive feat. I do disagree with the reason people left though. Things I've read suggest it is about way more than personality (the main gripe being the diminishing quality of CF). "The Crossfit White Pages" is pretty damaging for the reputation of CF as well. I'm curious how many people would stay if they knew all that. Seems most members didn't know how out of shape Glassman is.

No, what you have to realise is that anything you do is an exercise. bodybuilding/weightlifting has been around for a very long time and the high risk of injury exercises have been pushed to the side for the small risk injury exercises. Crossfit has ONLY just come around(crossfit is a company they make money from anyone using crossfit in their name/gym/business) and already there is many people who have injured themselves doing it due to the high risk of injury of their exercises.

Name one exercise that does not carry a risk of injury when performed at high intensity. Go.

He has been injured and he actually should be walking with s cane (notice how he limps). He has pins in his hips from a fall in the past and can't preform natural movements any more. He has become more of a professor/CEO rather than a athlete. Go ask Bill Parcells to run a wheel route and replace the outside linebacker. He can't do it, but that doesn't make his system of football any less great.

People are more worried about how he looks rather than his outrageous claims or the serious coaches and gyms that have left Crossfit. Still waiting to see that person deadlifting 200 pounds go to between 500 and 750 pounds in only two years.

CrossFit does not injure people. People injure themselves. I have been unaffiliated with a CrossFit box for 2 years now, never had any type of formal training from a coach, or even set foot in a CrossFit gym and I do CrossFit religiously every day. I have never been injured doing a movement. If the execution of the movement is wrong then there will be injuries. It is not the movement, but the individual that causes the injury.
