Best thing I ever did joining Octopus for our energy. Great app which I use every month to give accurate meter readings. Can't fault this company and would recommend to anybody confused by their current provider 😊

I like being an Octopus customer. Everything is clear and simple to use. Communication is great and easily understood. You don’t get tons of useless info to read through. Keep up the good work guys

Thanks for the update! You guys are the only utility company worth being loyal to. Before joining Octopus, I used to switch energy providers to get a cheaper deal and cashback yearly. Nowadays, I'm a loyal Octopus customer not just because you offer the best rates but because of your transparency, level of innovation and care for your customers. This is something I've never seen before and unfortunately, this is not the norm across utility companies but a major differentiator. Keep up the hard work!!!

I became an Octopus Energy customer by accident when we moved home. I had been a LOYAL Customer of British Gas but having experienced Octopus Energy & the way they treat and look after their customers, I will never go back. So; like it or not Octopus, you've got me for as long as I'm alive.

If Greg runs for an MP position he gets my vote. Hands down one of the best companies to deal with (energy or otherwise). I have been with octopus since pre Covid. I trust the open and fair pricing model that I don’t even bother to fix my contract. I also appreciate the fact they keep up with latest developments, example one of the first companies to partner with Ripple.

Been a massive Octopus fan for years now and wouldn’t consider moving supplier as your customer service is spot on, you’re so open and honest about charges etc, and you actually want to create a two way conversation and engagement with your customers (which is more than can be said for the big 6 energy companies of old). Keep up the good work!

Being Scottish I am disgusted by the state of the energy sector, the mismanagement and the extortionate prices we pay here - especially when we supply enough for our country, have to endure the weather that creates it and suffer an almost 9 month winter - However aside from the energy sectors pricing scam - I will agree that Octopus provide a great customer service and have found them to be helpful and easy to communicate with - and relatively transparent - if only other companies had such good customer service !! Standing charges are ridiculous off course and should be abandoned - just another tax

I've been supplied by octopus since moving in to my first property and did the switch urgently because I discovered the property was supplied by EDF.. No no no just no.. I don't want off shore call centres, I don't want impossible customer service and I don't want confusion to surround the truth within the energy smoke screens that are often in place. I have found octopus to be quick, helpful and friendly in their approach. I'm on a flexible octopus tariff and it works well with me putting me in control and being over £500 in credit over the past year. Personally I would highly recommend octopus to anyone and have already switched 3 people I know with many more to be convinced.. Keep up the good work for customers

Great stuff, Greg, good to see you espousing the "we are in this together" story. Any feelings of loyalty, either way, have been "capped" by lack of appreciation of loyal customers by big companies. If you can get people to stay it must make for good business. Octopus is easily the best provider I have had and I recommend to everyone. Please keep up the good work.

Was moved over to Octopus from my previous provider and I just went with it. I have been blown away by the high level of customer service since. Never before experienced an energery provider that I can actually have dialogue with without hanging on hold and being left feeling frustrated. I am a happy customer, thank you.

Very efficient customer service, pleasant staff and helpful. In my experience my queries have been dealt with immediately which I didn’t expect. I certainly won’t be changing energy suppliers.

I am a very happy Octopus customer, I am on the Agile smart tariff for electric, fixed for my solar export and tracker for my gas. The largest part of my bill is by far the standing charges. I would love to get rid of my gas altogether, but at least I’ve been able to improve my house and drastically reduce how much I use.

I joined Octopus on recommendation from a consultant at Ricardo who stated they were an energy company taking action to encourage customers to shift usage away from peak periods of demand. Now with an EV, solar panels and a battery, I have shifted much more of my energy usage to off peak periods. Well done Octopus; it's great to see the head of a company taking decisions based on our need to collectively address climate change.

Great video Greg, as a customer of Octopus for about 10 years now having both solar and batteries l decided in early May to change to intelligent Flux but after many e-mails from you including one today from Becky requesting yet again information l have given several times already, l now realise that l have lost a lot of money over this time and thinking of finding a company that will give me what l need badly as my tariff is the lowest 4.3 so over the years l have had solar l have lost a great deal

Thanks for listening regarding the end time of the Octopus Go tariff. I left a comment recently about how that should be extended and from July it's applying from 0:30am to 5:30am instead of finishing at 4:30am. Was it my little comment that precipitated the change? Probably not! But it's very welcome.

Totally brilliant! we drive two second-hand electric vehicles, totalling 12k miles a year, and run a house of four, and we only pay £116 a month to the lovely octopus! We also do all the winter-saving sessions 😀

Transparency is a key component to GOOD customer service. So it's good you made this video. So many of us have a great deal of contempt for energy prices/companies because we or I feel we are literally held to ransom with no good, clear and honest alternatives. When our previous supplier collapsed we were understandably very worried, well having been with Octopus a couple of years now I can honestly say all our experiences with them, information, excellent contact, nice app, fair prices in these difficult times etc, must possibly the best on the market. When engery crops up in conversations occasionally (usually moaning understandably) I always give a shout out for Octopus 😉

Should you not reward those who invest in solar panels the same export rate as import rate. After all, we pay a standing charge that covers your fixed costs and tge costs associated with those energy suppliers that have failed and then been merged into Octopus. Surely a fair export rate would encourage solar panel uptake.

Hi there. We have continuously advocated against increasing standing charges and have regularly kept ours below the price cap. They're in place to cover costs such as maintenance fees to your local network operators. Here's a video with more information: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4nbdZytp5J-mNEsi=CwlGXrMrTCNsyLWT. There are additional admin costs that come with export that aren’t applied to import, which is why there is a difference between the two prices. But we do regularly review our export prices, and to this day our export rates are some of the UK's best. The problem (speaking as someone who has PV myself BTW) is that peak PV generation times (and dates) are not the UK's peak consumption times (and dates). At peak times the wholesale cost of electricity is often 3x that during an sunny June afternoon. Just about the last country that had this type of policy (commonly called "net metering") was the Netherlands. They've just announced the end of this policy because of a combination of huge costs and oversupply during sunny periods.

Yep, been an Octopussy (!) since moving house last July (2023). They really are refreshingly honest and to the point and despite our bills being far bigger now that we've bought a much bigger house to heat and light, we've never once thought about moving supplier (even when the winter winds were blowing in our very old windows!!!).

Greg, appreciate the update and love the company, .... BEST I've been with since 1987. One thing that frustrates me more than anything and I appreciate it's not something you had control over, is the fact that I'm paying (as part of the standing charges) for equipment that doesn't actually work and hasn't done for years. I of course refer to the 1st version smart meters which as soon as you change provider to save on bills, it isn't guaranteed to work. No-one thought to regulate and agree a standard to which all meters should conform to when the government rolled out its plan to get everyone on a smart meter.

Hey Carl, that sounds very frustrating. Standing charges also pay for brining power to your home and social and environmental schemes to support the most vulnerable. First generation smart meters were not designed to be compatible with every supplier, but a lot has changed and there are ongoing updates (via software) to make sure we can connect. Since joining Octopus a couple of years ago, simply cannot be happier after being with Utility Warehouse. The communication, information and thoughtfulness from you guys is unbelievable. The beginning of the energy crisis was handled unbelievably well. While I wasn’t worried about being able to pay, I had unbelievable support and explanations from you. Considering your growth, you haven’t changed, but I do hope this will continue to be the way you operate.

Hi Greg, thanks for the update, and yes, I too am a very satisfied fan of Octopus. As you brought up the subject, I would like to ask if you could talk more about why you have chosen to keep your daily standing charges as high as you have. I understand that ofgem sets the rate, but are also aware that you, as the supplier, are allowed to charge lower rates and make up the difference in your unit rates. As lowering the standing charges seems to be hugely beneficial for the lower energy users and those who are actively trying to use less energy, I am wondering if you are considering making a change?

Hi Grant, thank you for this. Standing charges pay for fixed costs we’re charged for every meter we supply, hurting households with low usage and those trying to use less. We’ve been pushing for a reform and have consistently kept ours lower than the cap, lower than any major supplier to help everyone as much as possible. Some suppliers tried tariffs like this, with minimum volumes or astronomical unit rates, meaning nobody would save.

Excellent communications........ I have had 3 written comms. and this KZbin summary telling me about the tariff reduction. Unless I missed it though I don't know by what percentage the tariffs are being reduced.

Good to know Greg. I am however stunned by energy costs at a property that barely switches on gas or electric! We switched away from the nightmare that was Scottish Power and I feel things are sliding in the same direction with OE. I hope there's an error somewhere that your guys can find and resolve.
