V2G, V2H, V2L are crucial steps; motor manufacturers need to recognise this

I’m impressed with Greg’s logic & attitude. As a Plumber & Heating Engineer, that’s fitted ASHP’s I’ll be looking more closely at their units..

I’ve had a survey by octopus on my semi D and I couldn’t believe all the obstacles put in the way of fitting one. First of all it got to be 8 metres away from a neighbour’s bedroom window. Second they won’t run pipes to the cylinder cupboard under the floor instead they have to be external of the building, unless I’m prepared to lift the flooring. They won’t fit the heat pump on a wall it must be floor mounted even though Diakin the heat pump manufacturer there currently using supply a wall mount for their heat pump. My neighbour who has a 10 year old new build detach house was told he would need planning permission to have a heat pump because his next door neighbour’s conservatory window was less than 8 metres away. I checked the building regulations and can find just one rule and that is a heatpump must be at least a metre away from the boundary. The surveyor said to me that at the moment Octopus are cherry picking the installations that are easiest and don’t won’t any of the more difficult installations!? He said that the rules and regulations mean that most installations can’t go ahead especially in terraced houses unless the heat pump is fitted down the garden, at extra cost to the customers. The whole situation is a bloody mess, even more so if you live In Wales. He told me you could be living next to an airport or motorway and still the building regulations re noise still apply even though modern heat pumps are no louder that the flue outlet of a gas boiler.

Octopus leads the way. High temperature heat pumps are the way forward, combined with specific tariffs.

Obvs the differential 40º to the hight temp 70+º has a cost so intresting the SCOP of 4+ is being touted.. would love to see and understand a more technical aspect.. Think everyone would agree 'noughts for free' 🤔

What will the COP be if the Cosy 6 is running at 60° or 70° water temperature?

I’m unsure of the SCOP of this product mate. But like all ASHPs, if you can heat your home at a lower Mean Water Temperature, you’ll greatly improve the SCOP.

The spot light operator needs to get off their phone and move the spot as Greg moves and not as an after thought. Lol. Light/dark/light/dark. Greg speaks much sense.

Getting better but initial cost of new system is to expensive for me, also am I paying for electricity or huge expected profits, the only guarantee of affordable heat and light are a cheap supply of candles in 2023 uk😢🇬🇧

Hi Greg, how about spending some time on firing most of your customer service staff and replacing them with ones who can actually communicate as they are expected? The alternative of course is for you to arrange for adequate training for said staff but I appreciate public speaking equals more attention which in turns equals validation. And then perhaps you could spend some time correcting the experience of distressed Octopus (or should we called it Spectre?) customers who, like me, have had to go as far as threatening court action.

This was announced when the grant was still £5K. The £7.5K was announced a week later, and only comes into effect in late Oct23.
