There are faults on all sides here. The Saudis have done nothing in the past to develop the game from grass roots to top professional levels. The PGA have certainly embraced this development over the years, but they want to maintain a strangle hold over the game and their players. Neither group is blameless for the conflict. Simply quoting the human rights violations of the Saudis as an argument only confirms peoples ignorance of Americas own violations and lack of social responsibility.

Yea...but it's not even rely comparable. We can assume some horrible things have happened (which probably have) but most of it there isn't actual evidence. People forget that the PGA snubbed Mickelson. He used a 47-1/2 inch driver to win the 2021 PGA championship. The PGA, without consulting the player board, decided to enact the maximum 46 inch club length optional rule that the USGA has "suggested." Interviews with members of the PGA Player Board seem to indicate they wouldn't have OK'd the 46 inch limit. By the way, the ratio of a 45 inch driver to a 5'9" golfer is about the same as a 47 inch driver to a golfer 6'0" tall. In other words, for a 6'0" golfer to have the exact same swing as a 5'9" golfer, he would have to use a 47 inch driver if the 5'9" golfer is using a 45 inch driver. Also, the swing timing to swing a 47 inch driver is different. It takes a lot of practice to get it right. Mickelson did that then got stabbed in the back. A longer driver is also a way for a taller golfer to protect his back. I know that from experience. With a longer driver my back doesn't hurt at the end of a round like it did with a shorter driver.

There was once only one baseball and football league. Phil is not a traitor any more than the people who formed the AFC. The PGA's actions are those of a monopoly. His comments about them are probably correct. Their over reaction means we lose Phil? We don't watch to see the PGA. We watch to see Phil. Making them fight in the media cheapens their sport and dims their star..

The US continues to do big business with Saudi Arabia in oil and has for decades. Why bring up human rights issues for a golf league if it's ok to do oil business? The PGA has shown they are just as controlling as the NFL and the NBA. It's time to put them all in their place!!!

Sure, the same with the PGA, right? His ego is too big to skip majors. No one wanted him there & he knew it. He said he was taking time away to work on "being a better person." Bullshit! He was working on getting big bucks to pay his gambling debts. He was winning easily on the Champions tour but that obviously wasn't enough. He's a moneyslut.

Exactly! The PGA Tour banning Phil has no impact on the majors. As the PGA of AMERICA runs the PGA Championship. The USGA runs the US Open. The R&A runs the British Open and obviously Augusta National runs the Masters.

Yes, Phil Mickelson not only deserves to be back at the PGA, he is an integral part of the PGA, and he has been one of the main reason the purses are as big as they are today. The new players that are benefiting from the big salaries today need to thank Phil for the millions they are making today. Also, those “managing” the PGA today, also need to thank Phil as well.

replace the named person with "Tiger," and I agree.
@pjpredhomme76992 жыл бұрын
He so is not - Phil himself did very little - every christmas morning those tour players should say thank you to Tiger - he is what changed the money in golf dramatically - that is not even arguable it is all straight in the numbers - hefty just happened to be there when it happened
@mikerodrick24302 жыл бұрын
Bullshit! Mickelson admitted that he made out better than anyone else because of Tiger being in the game. If it weren't for Woods, golf wouldn't be anywhere near as popular or have the size of the purses it has. I'm not really a Woods fan but the truth is the truth. He made the game what it is today. MIC 🎤 DROP!

This just made me lose respect for Mickelson and anyone who plays for the Saudi League. Those people are known to violate Human Rights and yet they're willing to play for them because of money. The problem with bringing human rights into it is that the DP World Tour (a strategic ally of the PGA Tour) had an event in Saudi Arabia not so long ago. All the big names have played in China and the Middle East before. Jason Kokrak was an ambassador for golf in Saudi Arabia before LIV was a thing. It was fine then, apparently..
