As for not knowing what is in each degree, 90% of complete Masonic rituals can be found online. Nothing is really hidden at all. It's the "illusion" of mystery that is alluring to many. It's simply tradition, and initiates have a profound experience not knowing what to expect. It's like a mystery novel, you wouldn't want to read the last page and spoil the rest of the book and especially not to spoil the ending for someone else that may wish to enjoy the experience themselves. That is the core reason for "privacy" in masonry. Secrets are only as valuable as the men who keep them

I understand that as a marketing strategy, but it seems like many sign up without knowing what they're getting into. That's deceitful, not honorable.
@TheRealist20229 ай бұрын
@@jdasign No, it is not in the least bit deceitful. Deceit is where something is offered, but something different is delivered. Intentionally fooling someone. That is not right. What you ACTUALLY see is TRUST. Why trust? Because when a guy wishes to join, he asks a friend or colleague. They discuss everything. We tend not to tell the Candidate what will happen, but it's perfectly in order to give a broad overview of that which Freemasonry stands for. the trust element comes in, because the Candidate TRUSTS his friend that he will enter Freemasonry and nothing bad will happen. Your use of the phrase "what they're GETTING IN TO". That's an emotive phrase and it would appear that you have quite obviously used it to try to further your bias.

Cults are hard to get out of, fraternities are hard to get into. There's quite a difference I must say.

Once your petition is approved and you are allowed to join, you will be given a date and time for your first Degree in Entered Apprentice. Once you get inside and guided through the degree, at the beginning of it before it starts you are told what you are about to swear an oath to, and that it is your choice to agree to it or not. If you choose to say no, then it goes no further and you are escorted out. It's the same for each degree. If you don't want to take the Obligation, you don't have to. The degree will stop and you'll be escorted out. So even if you go all the way through becoming a Master Mason and then all the sudden nolonger want to be a member, you can leave and get out with no worries.

Unfortunately the York rite never gets fully explained. Most people only define Freemasonry through the lens of the Scottish rite. The York rite is fulfilled when one is knighted with the obligation to defend the cause of Christ in a holy war. It is distinctly a Christian body. In the Blue. Lodge you learn the Word was lost, in the Chapter you learn the Word was found, in the Council you learn how the Word was preserved, in the Commandry you prepare to fight and protect the Word.

Oh you had to decide what to spend your time on..........just like it says in the degrees that family, GOD, and your job comes before the Lodge. Doesn't seem like it wasn't incompatible with his morals and beliefs and more incompatible with what wanted to do in his free time.
@jdasign9 ай бұрын
First command in Exodus 20. "Thou shalt have no other gods before me." Then there's the Matthew 6 verse about not being able to serve 2 masters. Christianity and Masonry are incompatible my friend.
@Craig_N9 ай бұрын
@@jdasign In your view it is but you're a kid who knows nothing about Masonry other than what someone else told you. I've known GODLY men my whole life who lived their testimony who were lifelong masons. And where does Masonry have another god? And there is no second master if the organization states that GOD comes before it does. Hell you might as well be saying you can't be a Christian and hold a job because that's serving 2 masters.
@jdasign9 ай бұрын
@@Craig_N just by your rushed judgment alone of "you're a kid who knows nothing about masonry", the invalidity of your argument becomes even more clear.
@pdub19769 ай бұрын
Do I need to sit you both in the corner for a time-out? Lol But in all sincerity, Freemasonry is not a religion. We do not have a god of our own or put another god above the true and one and only God. So no, there are not two Gods in Freemasonry. All we ask our potential candidates who wish to join is that they are religious and have a belief in God. That is all. Because if they say no, or are an atheist or devil worshiper, they are not allowed to join.
