Who was your favorite during that era? As a kid I absolutely hated Honky Tonk Man, but now it's awesome realizes how great he was... A cowardly Elvis impersonater who thought he was the coolest guy on Earth! purposely dancing bad haha. I love his shoots too. He definitely knew the business. He knew that you don't have to have a drag out bump after bump match, he was always diving outside the ring bitching about something. Absolutely knew how to pop the fans. He was the heel version of Dusty Rhodes, be charismatic, make it look like everything is in control, and give em what they want.

Greg Valentine is a perfect example of how much different a wrestler can be in real life than the character he portrayed in the ring. Ironic that most of the “heels” were actually very nice guys and so many of the “good guys” were actually heels outside the ring.
@TheImapotato10 ай бұрын
I always said that. Met a number of them in the 80s and Greg, Kamala and Don Muraco were absolutely awesome guys to fans who 'knew' but if you still kept the kayfabe, they'd chat with you

I agree with others that have posted. James is the very best interviewer, and Greg the Hammer is the best interview. Sure hope Greg is on again. In fact, if James and Greg could agree to do a weekly program, I'd watch each one. I like Dutch. Shane is bit more tedious. But Greg is the best, hands down!

My dad was in the cab business in Nashville Tennessee all through the 70s 80s 90s he met all of the wrestlers that would hang out in the non-tourist bars, he told me that Greg, the hammer valentine was one of the best people in that whole entire business, he would tell stories about being at the bar. They always sound normal, but he would be hanging out with a hammer 🔨 every time I see Greg Valentine, I think of my dad how much fun he must’ve had bullshitting with these guys!

Wow. Valentine is great. They filmed promos in Allentown, PA, where this fellow worked quite often when not wrestling. These interviewers are such a mutual act of dignity. Valentine is a total gentleman, and wow, has he been there... one hour Backlund match, an inevitable series of Flair moments, and quite a history.

Growing up, I had such a love/'hate relationship with The Hammer. On one hand, he was a "bad guy" so I wasn't supposed to cheer. On the other, he was billed as being from Seattle, my hometown. You have no idea how frustrating that was for 9 year-old me. 😆
