Do you know why they never paired the Hammer and the Anvil? It's such an obvious pairing because of their names. Not to mention they are both amazing wrestlers! That would have been gold once Bret Hart, and Beefcake went solo. "Introducing to my left, at a combined weight of 524lbs Greg the Hammer Valentine, and Jim the Anvil Neidhart the 'Hammer and the Anvil' "! How freaking sweet would that have been.

I HATED the Hammer so much when he was wrestling but it's not until now, with these interviews, that it becomes clear what a genuinely good person he is and just how great he was at his job. I could listen to his interviews all day long.
@Your.Uncle.AngMoh3 жыл бұрын
If you hated the Hammer, he did his job. As a heel, having you want to slap him senseless simply hearing his theme music or having his name announced is half his job done before he even steps in the ring.

What impresses me the most in these interviews is that Greg does his best to talk about his opponents respectfully. Even if he thought the guy was the drizzling poo he will put it in the best light. And if you get him talking about someone he loved to work with (like Tito) he just lights up talking about how much fun it was in the ring with that guy.

Fun Fact: Greg "The Hammer" Valentine was the first person to wrestle for all 3 major men's 1980s WWF titles at Wrestlemania's. He defended the WWF Intercontinental Championship against Junkyard Dog at the original Wrestlemania, controversially losing by count out after already having scored a pinfall victory. He and Brutus Beefcake as The Dream Team lost the WWF Tag Team Championships to The British Bulldogs in the Chicago portion of Wrestlemania 2. Davey Boy Smith pinned Hammer to win the titles. Hammer was part of the WWF Championship tournament at Wrestlemania 4, defeating Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat in the 1st round before losing to eventual tournament winner and champion "Macho Man" Randy Savage in the 2nd Round/Quarter-Finals.

I started watching wrestling in late 1980s and early 1990s. Since I lived in Tennessee the main wrestling promotion was NWA then eventually WCW so STING, ROAD WARRIORS, RIC FLAIR w/4 HORSEMAN , DUSTY RHODES, LEX LUGER, NIKITA KOLOFF, ROCK N ROLL EXPRESS , MID NIGHT EXPRESS ,GREAT MUTA, SID VICIOUS, BIG VAN VADER among so many other HOF or SOON 2 BE HOF members were The wrestlers i watched 90% of time. I guarantee that The 🔨 would have been able to HAMMER himself to the top and been used in better angles and all around better career. I know the Hammer has had some of the greatest matches like dog collar matches with RIP ROWDY RODDY PIPER but Vince and WWF shut down the Hammers push way to soon and anyone that disagrees obviously doesn't know A GREAT WRESTLER LIKE THE HAMMER when they see one THANK U GREG *THE HAMMER* VALENTINE RIP to your HOF Father JOHNNY VALENTINE
