There are a number of reasons why you would hunt bear. For one, bears pose a significant threat to human safety and survival. Two, bear hunting was a sport much like fox hunting, they used spears, bows, early firearms, dogs, bear traps, and bear armor. Three, if a bear made a habit of raiding homes, then you needed some way of getting rid of it, most commonly a bounty was put out for it and hunting bear isn't for the faint of heart. Much like dealing with many apex predators, safety is the biggest concern, to make the area safer for human habitation.

Fun fact, the really old Disney mascots suits were originally made for ice skating performances, but they used them for press events and early Disneyland because it was all that they had. That's why they look so uncanny, they were made for function so that the performers could skate uninhibited, and only had to look passable at a distance. Although, most of the Mickey costumes in this video aren't actually historic photos, those are purposely made creepy masks photo edited to look like they are from the 40's.

2:42 Idk if there's a horror movie with a reoccurring theme about, and/or a monster inhabiting, old timey diving suits, BUT I DO KNOW about an Indie video game that does! It's called "Narcosis," named after "Nitrogen Narcosis," which is: "A state of altered mental status, most notably euphoria, and confusion caused by intoxication with dissolved nitrogen due to its narcotic effects under pressure; which occurs when nitrogen in normal air enters the bloodstream at increased pressure (as in deep-water diving)." In the game, you play as a crewmember from a ship in the Pacific Ocean somewhere. At the game's open, your chatacter is off the boat and doing some diving when the ship has some mysterious catastrophic incident happen and your character has to fight to get to the escape pod in under an hour or 2, in real time, before running out of oxygen. As your character completes tasks to get to the escape pod, Nitrogen Narcosis sets in and your character starts hallucinating. There's a hallucination that follows you throughout the game of a guy in an old timey diving suit. Narcosis is probably the closest piece of media that currently exists to a horror movie about the old timey diving suits. Lol😄

I also live above ground and one of my biggest paranoias is someone knocking on my bacony door. Recently had my very first sleep paralysis as an adult due to long sustained stress at work and some troubles at home (partner got pneumonia and such). Dreamt i saw a tall man in all black standing on my balcony with a big black dog on a leash. The balcony dppr was open. The dog and the man were slowly moving into my bedroom. Also the man didnt have a normal face. He had the head of a black dog himself. Him and the dog were lookign at me with the same dead eyed expression. I was so frigging scared. I closed my eyes and felt something heavy crawl on top of me.
