This lesson deepened my understanding of the importance of phonetics in Gregg Shorthand. Learning the symbols for o, r, and l and practicing the omission of minor vowels helped streamline writing while preserving meaning. By focusing on sounds and practicing attentive listening, I can write faster and more accurately. This lesson reinforced the balance between efficiency and clarity in shorthand.

I've learned that the ideas of removing minor vowels and using symbols to represent consonant sounds in shorthand show the amazing capacity of language to adapt to human needs. This insight serves as a reminder of language's adaptability and the always-evolving techniques we use to convey our thoughts more effectively.

In lesson 3 I've learned in this Shorthand is it introduces new symbols, emphasizes word and phrase practice, it includes reading exercises, dictation practice, and especially, the minor vowels omitted such as, the sounds of o, r, and the previous material. It's nice because it enhanced speed and accuracy in my shorthand writing. I am excited to know more about shorthand.

During lesson 3, I came across a useful rule for abbreviations that involves omitting minor vowels. This rule was also mentioned in the article, and it suggests that if removing vowels does not hinder the clarity or speed of the text, it can be left out in shorthand outlines. Many words possess vowels that are inaudible when spoken at a regular pace. To represent the letters o, r, and l, short forward "under" curves of varying lengths are utilized. This shorthand technique focuses on practising words and phrases, introducing new symbols, providing reading exercises, and dictation practice. I found this content to be extremely beneficial in enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of my shorthand writing, and I'm excited to gain further knowledge on the subject.

This highlighted to me that shorthand are a little similar to each other but has their own respective lengths, sizes, places, etc.. Observing the discussed lesson, you may noticed that in shorthand, there are absence of letters to some outline when looking for longhand's words, as exampled earlier name in longhand is written as nam in shorthand since e is silent, it is ruled by John Robert Gregg, the inventor of gregg shorthand that what you hear is what you write. These lessons caught my interest to keep more motivated in learning them and understood their deeply meaning and their importance.

Lesson three taught me the same things as lessons one and two. It teaches how to write o, r, and l in shorthand. Lesson 3 also emphasized the importance of paying full attention to what is being said because some letters became silent when we heard them. I find that as time goes on, each lesson gets harder; therefore, it's important to study it well and practice it so that we can become familiar with each symbol.

Just like in lesson 1, paying attention to what is being said is a must. I learned that the shorthand for "O", "R", and "L" are short forward curves differentiated by length. It's hard because, in my eyes, when I saw it, it was quite the same, but when you pay attention to its sizes and way of stroking, you eventually learn that it's not the same, just as I noticed it. As I watch lesson 3, I know that it takes time to learn shorthand, but I know that with effort and patience, I can do it.

I learn a lot of this lesson that talks about the importance of paying attention to words, writing o-, r-, and i- abbreviations and working with minor vowels. The "o" is shorter that "r" and "l" meanwhile "r" is a bit longer than "o" yet shorter than "l" and lasty "l" is the longest of them.

My takeaways in this lesson 3, I learned about the symbols of o, r, and l. The only difference in their symbols is the length, o is a tiny forward curve, r is a short forward curve, and l is a long forward curve. I also learned on how to write it when combined to other symbols. That's all for this lesson 3, thank you for this lesson. 🙃

I learned how to write the letters "O", "R", L," and a short "I" in this video lesson. As explained in the video, the symbols for "O," "R," and "L" are short forward curves distinguished by length. The letter "O" is formed like a small hook, the letter "R" is formed like a short forward curve, and the letter "L" is formed like a long forward curve. Many words feature vowels that are hardly audible when spoken at normal speed; if these vowels do not help fluency or speed, they may be omitted from shorthand outlines. In addition, it also addressed the concept of simplicity, which states that minor vowels should be eliminated. Furthermore, there are ways that shorthand writers must employ in order to efficiently express these specific letters and simplify their writing by removing irrelevant vowel sounds in some circumstances.

Marasigan, Jay em E. CBET-25-102E Lesson 3 of the shorthand introduction taught me new symbols and gave me practice with words, phrases, reading exercises, and dictation by removing small vowels like 0, 2, and e from the sentence. It can be discouraging to see that all of the above symbols have the same small forward curve, but after practicing, I can now see more differences based only on stroke pruning and length. While learning shorthand is a process that takes time, I anticipate that with practice, I will become faster and more accurate.

This lesson discusses how to write the letters o, r, and l in shorthand. I discovered that the vowels are often not included in shorthand outlines when they don't contribute significantly to the word's readability or speed. Watching lesson 3 makes me realize how hard stenography is. But as I continue watching this, it gives me more dedication to learn about stenography.

Just like in lessons 1 and 2, lesson 3 is very similar to them. They show us how important it is to develop our hearing because there are some words that have a silent sound that we don't have to write, and it proves here how important the phrase "you write what you hear" is. To correctly hear the word that is spoken by the speaker, we must be focused and attention to them. The symbols shown here in lesson 3, the o,r, and l, are written similar to each other, but we can differentiate each symbol based on its length. This lesson shows that shorthand makes writing faster and easier by omitting some vowels to make it shorter. Because many vowels in words are barely pronounce in ordinary speech. If that vowel doesn't help with readability and speed, it can be left out of shorthand outlines.

My learnings or takeaways in lesson 3 are very important and knowledgeable for me as a first-year student of the Bachelor of Science in Office Administration. like symbols for the sounds of o, r, and I. Lesson 3 introduces symbols for the sounds of "o", "r", and "I." These symbols help to accurately represent these sounds in written language. Then, minor vowels are omitted as abbreviating principles. In lesson 3, I learn about the abbreviating principles used in shorthand. Minor vowels such as "a" and "e" can be omitted to simplify the writing process, improving speed and efficiency. Furthermore, a symbol for the sound of short, which is introduced in lesson 3, also introduces a symbol for the sound of short "i." This symbol allows you to represent the sound quickly and easily in shorthand. Lastly, listening as a communication skill in Lesson 3 underscores the importance of listening as a crucial communication skill. Effective listening enhances understanding and promotes effective communication. In summary, practicing regularly and applying these concepts will help me or us to improve our shorthand skills effectively.

My takeaways in Lesson 3 From the video lesson, I learned about shorthand symbols used for representing specific sounds, communication skills, and the principles of abbreviation in shorthand writing. The video introduced symbols for the sounds of "o," "r," "l," and "i" in shorthand writing. It highlighted the importance of differentiating symbols to avoid confusion. Examples helped me illustrate how the symbols are used in practice. It also emphasized the use of capitalization marks in shorthand when referring to proper nouns or names. The video helped me understand how these shorthand principles are applied in real writing situations. Overall, the video provided valuable insights into shorthand writing techniques and symbol usage. It helped me for the fundamentals of shorthand notation and how it can be a useful tool for transcription.

Dumduma, Rheiza Mae C. I learned how some barely pronounced vowels can be omitted for efficiency. I also explored the shorthand symbols for “O,” “R,” and “L,” which are distinguished by their varying curved lengths. The letter "O" is a small hook, "R" is a short curve, and "L" is a longer curve. This lesson emphasized practicing words and phrases, and the omission of minor vowels enhances both speed and accuracy in shorthand writing, building on earlier concepts for faster transcription.

Maryam Angela F. Balmores CBET-25-104P My takeaways from this lesson is that if there are unnecessary vowels we can exlude them as long as it doesn't affect the speed and readability of a word. I have also learned that the sound of o is a tiny hook, sound of r is a short forward curve, and the sound of l is a long forward curve. These three are just same under curves but different lengths. It is also important for us to write it properly so that it will be easy to understand. Lastly, the sound of short i is represented by the shorthand e symbol which is a small circle and they are in the same family of sounds. Considering that this is the 3rd lesson that I have watched and studied for today it's getting hard for me to understand and remember every symbols but the good thing is that I have a learning skill that works for me and that is writing.

Rawit, Clark Manuel Agustin. CBET-104P For this third as well as last lesson, i comprehended the value of each symbols because they are the most important things that connected in Stenography. Predominantly, it discusses the three shorthand symbols which are "O, R, L" letters, well i understand that they are the same symbol but differentiated by length, the letter "O" represents the tiny hook while "R" represents the small forward curve, and the letter "L" represents the long forward curve, with this difference I can instantly determine what I need to define. Furthermore, there's is a critical side between vowel "I" and "E" these symbols are phonetically the same family of sounds. Throughout these lessons it made me realized that I need to be on the position of being mindful and attentive in the world of stenography. For my Prof. Marie Joy Jorduela, A big round of applause for you and Thank you for this such an amazing opportunity. I now know the various symbols for the letters o, r, and I from this lesson. All of the symbols, based on my observations and understanding, have a similar forward curve, however they varied not just in length but also in width. Because their sounds are so similar, a short "e" is utilized to stand in for the short "i" sound. To make the writing comprehensive, some vowels are deleted, so it will be easier to recognize.

The shorthand symbols "o," "r," "I," the short "i," and the omission of minor vowels. Omitting vowels allows writers to condense more information into a smaller space. They are part of the wide shorthand system's rules and techniques, which requires a lot of practice to do it effectively. That's why listening is important especially in transcribing.

In lesson no.3, I've learned that it was like lesson 1 the "write what you heard" some of the minor vowels that don't contribute to its pronunciation are going to be omitted to add some speed on your writing ability. The symbols for sound (o,r,l) are all both have a hook symbols the symbols for (o) is a hook while the symbols for (r) is a hook too but it has a line to it and the longest line with the hook representing the sound of (l). In addition on what I've learned is the symbols for (i) is the same as (e) because they both sound familiar it's a little confusing example heating and hitting in shorthard writing they're both symbols so how can you determine if it's (heating) with an ae or (hitting) with an i.

Bebit, Jhemlyn Mae C. My takeaways from Lesson 3 on this course are the following: First, the symbols for the sound of o, r, and l are under curves that are differentiated by length. “O” is a tiny hook like u which is pronounced like ow, joined at the beginning of a word and written without an angle. The symbol of “r” is a short forward curve or a small curve check (✓). While a symbol of “l” is a long forward curve. Second, in writing shorthand, there are instances that minor vowels are omitted since they are barely pronounced on some particular words. Like in a word “delay” only (D-L-A) are recognized since the sound of “e” is also heard in the sound of “d”. Lastly, the symbol of “i” is pronounced like the sound of “e”. Phonetically, they are the same family of sounds. Such as hit = heat and Tim = team.

The symbols for the sounds of O, R, and L are what I remembered most from lesson 3. It discussed the notion of abbreviation that minor vowels should be omitted. It is crucial to understand that listening is a communication skill as well. The short, forward-curving "under" symbols for O, R, and L can be distinguished by their length. We begin with O, which resembles a hook, followed by R, a brief forward curve, and L, a lengthy forward curve that is twice as long as a R stroke. Many words have vowels that are scarcely audible when spoken at normal speed; if these vowels do not improve readability or speed, they may be excluded from shorthand outlines.

Bares, Mary Jean S. CBET-25-101E I've learned about the shorthand symbols for the sounds of "O", "R", and "L", which are represented by short forward under curves differentiated by length. The "O" is depicted as a tiny hook, the "R" as a short curve, and the "L" as a longer forward curve, which is twice the size of the "R". In addition, minor vowels that are barely articulated in regular speech can be omitted to enhance speed without sacrificing readability, as seen in the words "later" (L-A-T-R) and "dealer" (D-E-L-R). The short "I" sound is denoted by the shorthand "E" symbol, considering their phonetic similarity. Dela Cruz, Dann Andrew L. CBET-25-104P Lesson 3 There is not much of a difference from how O, R, and L are written aside from how they differ by length, whereas short I's letter is represented by E, which I'll be mindful of when reading in shorthand. To be honest, I'm still a bit unclear about minor vowels omitted as an abbreviating principle, but that's something I'll learn in our Face-to-Face classes. Listening as a Communication Skill is a crucial subject that I took during my time as a Senior high school student, and I know how important this is as communication can reap great benefits, which can help me later down the road as I navigate through the later semesters of my college years.

In this lesson, I remember the symbols for the sound of o, r, and l. The symbols for o, r, and l are short forward "under" curves differentiated by length. The o is a tiny hook and the r is a short forward curve while the l is a long forward curve. Then, I learned that minor vowels are omitted as an abbreviating principle. For example, the word "later". In shorthand, it is written as "latr", we exclude the e because the e sound does not contribute to the speed or readability of the word. Another thing is the sound of the short I, the short sound of the vowel I is presented by the shorthand e symbol because they are the same family of sounds. Therefore, listening is a way of improving our communication skills, and being an effective listener can give us an advantage in shorthand, as we always use our sense of hearing in this subject.

CAMPOLLO, NATHALIE CBET-25-101E As the lesson improved, it made me realize how complex the writing of shorthand is. There are necessary things that need to be considered in order to write in an effective way. The length in writing a letter to shorthand is crucial because you may mix it up to a new letter and the words are messed up. The new letters introduced were o, r, and l, which differentiate in length. It also introduced how some vowels were omitted because it doesn't really help to read in shorthand; this made me confused at first, but the way it was taught has made me think that it makes sense.

CBET - 25 - 102E LESSON 3 - After watching the lesson 3 video guide, I have learned that the O, R, and L in shorthand are the same stroke but differentiated by length, just like the N & M straight line strokes. I realized that mostly of the vowel letters are omitted from shorthand, just like what is discussed in this lesson, vowels are omitted if they do not contribute to the pronunciation or readability. I found out that the short I (i) has the same shorthand E symbol which is a small circle. This case mostly happens if I and E have the same sounds.

Cecelle A. Curay CBET-25-102E In lesson 3, the symbols for "o,r and l" is hook. The "o" is a tiny hook, "r" is a short forward curve and the "l" is long forward curve. In shorthand there's "Minor Vowel Omitted" since the golden rule of shorthand is "Write What You Hear" there' also words that contain vowels that are barely pronounced. It is being omitted if they do not contribute to speed and readability. The Sound of Short I is represented by the shorthand e symbol.

OTACAN, Yna Mae C. (CBET-25-103P) I learned that the letters O, R, and L have different lengths and alignments from this lesson. To prevent errors, you should maintain the proper alignment and proportion. I also discovered that vowels that are barely pronounced in ordinary speech could be omitted from the shorthand outline. The letter “E” can also be utilized as a representation of the letter “I”, because they belong to the same family of sounds. For example, the letter “E” symbol is used in the word “him” rather than the letter “I” symbol since they sound similar.

Benitez, Ranniel C. - CBET-24-104P Lesson 3 I've learned in this lesson is that "O", "R", and "L" they have a similarities in each other but they also have a big difference in each other because they written as curve upward outline but it comes with a sizes if which is the letter you want to write. It was like a small, medium, large curve so for me it is easy to differentiate if which is the letter O, R, and L when it comes into shorthand writing. And I also learned on how to differentiate the pronunciation of words, on which is the word you have to remove the silent letters.

In this lesson I've learned about the symbols for letters o , r , l and for the short i . This lesson represented o as tiny hook , while r represented as short forward curve and lastly , l is represented as long forward curve . Addition to that , short i is represented as e-symbol . Lastly , I've also learned that minor vowels are omitted. Since , most words have vowels that are barely pronounced at normal speed and if it didn't improve the readability of a word , it can be excluded on Shorthand outline .

Rodriguez, Kurt Miel F CBET-25-103P In this lesson, my key takeaways are as follows; - the letters o, r, and l are represented by short forward under curves differentiated by length. - Whereas O, is a tiny hook. R is a short forward curve. And L is a long, forward curve. - Many words contain vowels that is not pronounced and is just spelled in longhand that way for its formality. - In shorthand, it can be omitted(excluded) if they do not contribute to the speed in writing it into and outline and readability of the word. (later=latr, dealer=delr, delay=dla) - and lastly short i sounding words are represented by the same symbol used for the word e since they are the same family of sounds, phonetically. (him=hem)

Shorthand is a process and while that takes time, I'm looking forward to getting faster and more accurate over time with practice.

The symbol of letter ”o” is written by tiny hook, the letter “r” is short forward curve and the letter “l” is long forward curve that double the size of the stroke. The short sound of the vowel i is represented by the short e symbol, and they belong to the same phonetic family and the vowels in words that are barely pronounced in ordinary speech can be omitted from shorthand outlines if they don't enhance speed or readability.

My takeaways/learnings To begin, lesson 3 tackled the symbols for the sounds of o, r, and L, as well as, the sound of short i. It also tackles listening as a communication skill. This lesson has given me a deeper understanding of how to write in shorthand. If you will notice, lessons 1 and 2 are similar to lesson 3, as they all discussed that vowels were being omitted in a sentence because some of them do not contribute to the speed and readability of a speech. Omitting these vowels makes it faster and easier to write a word because it becomes shorter. However, the only drawback or difficulty that I consider in this lesson is in the part of writing what you hear, because you need to be focused and attentive to the speaker in order to hear properly the words pronounced by him. Additionally, this lesson is a little bit difficult compared to the first two lessons, since lesson 3 is more on the sizes and length of a curve of the symbol. It takes more time and effort to practice writing these symbols, in order to get the proper and accurate way approach of writing these symbols. Furthermore, Gregg's shorthand lessons leave me in awe because the form of writing is not just interesting but also it's a form of art that can only be done and mastered by those who are willing to learn and practice it.

In this lesson, three vowels or letters are being discussed. three vowels that have different lengths but similar characteristics in the short forward under curve. I learned that we need to be familiar with and alert to the symbols of the sounds in o,r, and L to avoid mistakes and confusion. Every example of these vowels is helpful because it shows how to write the symbols correctly. Furthermore, in this part of the lesson, it is also discussed that the short sound i is also written as ashort e symbol, so definitely they are similar. Moreover, vowels are omitted since the job of shorthand is to speed up writing. There are vowels that need to be removed if they are not being pronounced.

In Lesson 3, the symbols representing the sounds of O, R, and L stood out the most. The lesson emphasized the concept of abbreviation by omitting minor vowels. It stressed the importance of listening as a communication skill. The symbols for O, R, and L were distinct based on their length: O had a hook shape, R was a short forward curve, and L was a longer forward curve, twice the length of an R stroke. The lesson also mentioned that in shorthand, vowels that are barely audible at normal speaking speed can be omitted from outlines if they don't enhance readability or speed.

"O" is written as a tiny hook while the letter "R" is written as a short forward curve and the letter "L" is written as a long forward curve. Also in minor vowels omitted, there are many words that contain vowels that are barely pronounced in the speech. Such vowels may be ommited from shorthand outlines if they do no contribute in the speed or readability.
