I'm an Illinois fan, and I have to say that the Illini were VERY fortunate to win this game. If Neb hits the FG late, probably a different outcome. I think Neb. has some great players and great coaches, and will have a good season.

Unfortunately, being unable to stop 3rd down conversions was a big problem last season too. Distance doesn't even seem to matter much.

If you can't beat the worst team in the B1G on the road you really DO have problems. Huskers win big in Purdue. Rutgers will be tougher but you should win handily at home. Indiana is going to give your defense fits though. You go into Bloomington overconfident and you'll get your asses handed to you. Don't make that mistake twice.

I do not know where Tony coached before, but the TE is eligible receiver in the Big 10. He needs to be defended.

2 weeks ago everyone’s screaming about locking Tony down to a long term contract and making him the highest paid DC in the country to keep him from taking an HC job somewhere. This week he’s being questioned about whether he knows the TE is an eligible receiver that should be covered?!?!?! Unbelievable overreactions.

Pretty disappointed in what our defense looked like against Illinois. For the first time this year, I was more confident in our offense than our defense. Illinois ran the ball well 2nd half, and had wide open receivers all day long.

Too many old players used to losing. Can’t win close games they get tight. We won’t be better till more young players contribute more.

The quick passing game will prevent our pass Rush from getting to their quarterback. Any effective pass rush, can help our secondary. By the same token if we can’t stop the run and we have to use our safety to come up to the line then we’re vulnerable to play action. Speed on defense with guys that can make plays and calling the the right defensive scheme is easier said than done .

Maybe. Run the damned ball. Need to call a more balanced offense and need to rotate more people in on D earlier. Keep your D off the field. Can't be gassed halfway through the second half. Got humiliated in OT.

3rd down becoming an issue yet again in year 2. Gotta clean it up. I think our younger guys will end up far exceeding these Frost vets that just can’t get out of their own way.

If Chinander was still the DC, we would have had asked for a running clock. Tony has taken the guys that got dusted by Gof5 teams and made them an upper tier defense. If he doesn’t get nabbed to be a HC, this will be a defense like Michigan had last year.

D was basically average. I still think this guy will get it right. But really. Just want to get that bowl eligible monkey off our back. 7 years or such.
