I too am a Genesis fan from back in the day, was blessed with being able to see them live with Peter 5 times and got to see the entire Lamb twice, so I am huge on the Peter side of Genesis but if Phil wouldn't have taken over the band would have either collapsed or just got someone else so Phil was the best choice. Phil Genesis did have some good stuff too, Trick of the Tale and Wind and Wuthering. Steve Hackett leaving also had a major influence on the direction of the band went after that.

@SPeacock it slightly warps the voice, and every now and again you can hear jumps in the pitch if the singer slides from one tone to another. The vibrato also sounds very mechanic.

How do you know that auto tuning is being used?

There is no autotune! But it is hardware harmonized. In Studio they are three people singing all. I use same effect (from TC Helicon) when I have a Gig alone with my guitar and the TC.H Harmony Singer.
