This is my saving grace- 7 yrs ago my 29 yr old nephew passed away and shattered my heart. I was barely making it through and this song found me and carried me until I could stand on my own again...each day outside from early morning until after dark working in the hot sun of summer landscaping the front of the Apts I was living in at the time. As soon as I started working my phone would be qued up and I'd press the START button and I would sing the song as best I could while sobbing and shoveling dirt and planting flowers. I would play it over and over and over, sometimes for hours on end-I could find no peace without it as it was my only source of comfort. I sent it to everyone I knew as a way of sharing my pain and loss and to hopefully bring peace to any who needed it- crying all the while. I've really only recently been able to listen with out crying and sometimes still do. This song saved me and made me remember that we're ALLgoing to be alright- for we are forgiven and we are truly loved.

I saw him two weeks ago in Dortmund, Germany. I am an entertainer from New York living here for many years. I was really homesick. His performance was healing for me. I was moved to tears when he sang this particular song. It was a sold out performance and awesome to see the audience enjoying too. We were butter in his hands. I've been struggling with getting my anger under control lately but it is something I must do now before I end up dead or hurt. Seriously. I have a history of child abuse and that's what abuse does to a child that grows up to be an adult. I'm so happy to have finally found a solution. Whenever I get upset or angry, I listen to this song 5 times and I'm peaceful again; able to go on another day to try again when I fall short. God bless this man and his voice that touches us so. An amazingly beautiful voice, true soul. I was in the AB in Brussels last week at my first live concert of Gregory Porter. I tell you it was a religious experience. The man is not just singing truly beautifully about love, God, life. He IS so much love and space on the stage, for true Love, for the musicians, for the audience. He is inviting everyone in, just by who he is. He is not sending, like most people who are 'doing' a performance. It touched me and smiles just whirled up, simply happy. Woke up with that same smile, happy inside, the way I feel when meditating (in action). That's true music, true art, true love.
