I just grabbed one of these on closeout for $92. Screaming deal at that price! I just borrowed My brothers Praxis 65 for a trip to Canada. It's a great bag but I wanted to scale it down to carry on size to save on bag checking fees. I think this one will do it for me. Cool review! Thanks!

Good thorough review - I just bought the women's version, Gregory Proxy 45. The only issue I can see with it so far is that there's nowhere accessible to put a water bottle. I think it could have done with a suitable pocket somewhere on the outside of it. But I guess there are places you can clip a bottle onto, or you could fix a detachable bottle sleeve or mesh pocket on the back, so it's a pretty minor quibble.

Jamawa yeah that’s a great point! Always need a water bottle pocket!

@Jamawa is the back of the pack ridged? Most airline in EU have 56cm limit and this one is 60cm? Can the back be bent at the ends a bit?
@jamawa3 жыл бұрын
@@woolypuffin392 Yes, I would say that it is quite rigid and in my opinion you wouldn't really be able to squish it down by much. You might just about manage to curve the whole back a bit, I guess. Unfortunately my pack's at the bottom of a huge pile of junk right now because I'm in Central Scotland and not going anywhere for a while thanks to lockdown, so I can't easily drag it out and actually test and measure it for you. When I'm reorganising my stuff in future I'll try to remember to check it properly.

This is such a good bag...my only thing is that the laptop is in the front and not the back. I prefer to carry it closer to my back for balance and protection.
@KendrickDischCreative4 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a very valid concern. Let me know what you end up going with!

It seems some 45 liter bags are too large for a carry on according to some airlines. have you had any issues with it being a carry on? will it fit under the seat in front of you on the plane?
@KendrickDischCreative5 ай бұрын
Never had issues with it being a carryon. I don’t often try to stick a bag this big under the seat because I hate having any bag under my feet. I also don’t have extra small planes or smaller international airlines. I’d caution against using any bag that pushes past 35L under the seat. But I can’t answer your question with any particular accuracy.

Really like the video format, seems like you gave a clear view of everything. Just out of curiosity, have you compared to any other bags in the brand such as the tetrad 40?
@KendrickDischCreative3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I have only ever used 1 other Gregory pack before and that was a big hiking backpack when I was a teenager. Great bag! I looked up the Tetrad 40 and it looks like it would probably be a great bag, but I really like the stowable straps so I more often look towards bags that have that. What are you thinking about it?
@chrish95023 жыл бұрын
@@KendrickDischCreative thanks for the reply! Correct me if I’m wrong, but the praxus 45 seems like its taylored to be your perfect airport companion. The Tetrad 40 seems like its for the same thing, but also places a little more emphasis on how it will feel on your back after you leave the airport. I agree the praxus stowaway straps are nice, the Tetrad tackles this with a full enclosure rain cover that zips up. Have heard it is tough to get on though which could be a hassle in a crowded airport. So far my research is leading me toward the tetrad as I want to be comfortable on the walk from plane > hostel, but the price difference is weighin in on the decision as well.

Great review! How comfortable on your back is the Gregory Praxus 45 compared to other 40 to 45 litre backpacks do you think? I'm looking at a few backpacks, but prefer to go to a more budget friendly one like this.
@KendrickDischCreative3 жыл бұрын
so far it's the one of the most comfortable I've tried. Since the backpack straps are stowable, I don't think it can really compare to a bag where they aren't stowable. I think the Think Tank backpack straps/harnesses are the best I've tried, but this is the bag I reach for pretty often. In fact, I'm heading out on a short work trip today and this is the bag of choice for clothes and such. Thanks for watching, let us know what you decide!

@@KendrickDischCreative Okay thanks for letting me know! The most comfortable bag I have been able to get my hands on was the Osprey Farpoint 40 but good to know the Praxus is good too. Have a good trip.

@@Syed-u6x Not sure if you’re still in the market, but if you’re still considering the praxus REI has them on sale for roughly $100 until the 6th of September. If you’re an REI member you get an extra 20% off too. If not, membership is only $20, so you basically get a membership for free after you take $20 off the bag price.

@@blakew5672 Hey thanks for giving me the hint, really appreciate it. I already went ahead and brought this at around $55 as I'm based in Europe and there is a huge sale for the Praxus 45 this summer here. Definitely a great bag -- just lacks a smaller pocket to quickly access small things easily. But otherwise really good value.
@chrish95023 жыл бұрын
@@blakew5672 Our research has brought us both to the same place it seems 😂. I’m trying to make my decision before the rei sale is over as well. Have you considered the Tetrad 40?

Is the back ridged? Most airline in Europe have 56cm limit for carry on and this is 60cm? Can it be bent a bit to press into a 56cm compartment?
@KendrickDischCreative3 жыл бұрын
Yes, there's a medium amount of rigidness to the back. I'd say you probably can't squish it into place for an airline. Thanks for watching!

If it's not fully packed the smallest it could be is about 55× 16× 31, just checked my pack

So can this bag be used as a carry-on? Seems to me since it is a backpack that it could be compress a bit to fit in the overhead compartment.
