So I went for this Zulu 35 in fiery red. I thought about getting the 40L but figured it might be a little big. I know I won't be using all the space in the 35L as well except packing my valuables, batteries, flashlights, first aid kid, water bottles, few pants and shirts and food only as I'll be using this for day hikes and carry-on travels. 30L might be exactly perfect but what the heck..a little space is better 🙂

Are you able to remove the hip belt, or is it able to be tucked in when not wanting to use it?

Great question, but no, the Zulu 35 hipbelt is neither removable nor stowable.

How come there is no straps and clips for tent/mat outside at the bottom?

Gregory considers the Zulu 35 a daypack, which may be why it does not have the lower sleeping pad straps. However, there are some external attachments for things like trekking poles that could be used to lash gear externally if necessary.

Is there any big difference when packing gears bet zulu 35 and 40? Thanks

Hi Robby! the main dimension difference is depth, increasing from 9.5" on the 35 to 11" on the 40. The sizing remains the same between the two, with the Small/Medium fitting torsos 15" - 19" and the Medium/Large fitting torsos 18" - 22"
