catching fish AND keeping them to eat... ...you're hell-bound!!! Great video - especially the aerial shots, as they give greater perspective RE: distance and surrounding landscape.
@JollyRogerification4 жыл бұрын
I recognise the location and there used to be a good run of Bass through there in the warmer months. Enjoying your videos and I see nothing wrong with catching for the table but these days it's getting harder to catch due to the intensive fishing by foreign trawlers. The point you make about the number of fish that killed and discarded by commercial fishing compared to the total amount of fish caught by rod and line anglers is very valid. I am sure very little helps but the impact that anglers make on fish stocks minimal.

I love eating fish that I've caught myself. Nothing like it. It's a lot more expensive than buying fish at a supermarket or fishmonger when you add up the cost of bait, terminal tackle, rods etc and it supports a big industry of mostly small local businesses. One of the things I like about your channel is the fact that you are happy to make a meal out of fish that a lot of other anglers turn their noses up at. Dogfish and whiting make a great meal.

Bought back memories of when i was a lad many moons ago and lived in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey. My younger brother and i were fishing addicts and fished all around the island but all we ever caught in the Swale and surrounding marshes were eels. I have now lived in North Yorkshire for 55years ( I did say many moons ) so watching your videos really is very enjoyable even fishing for bass and mackerel off the Admiralty Pier in Dover so please make an old caster happy by many more vids to watch, best wishes. Hi , found your vids by watching the uploads of your adventures in Fuerteventura which were great fun. To fish and keep a few is the most sustainable and targeted way to feed a person, and greatly owed considering the time, effort, and money we put in. The guys trolling you will certainly be ignorant of the wider picture, possibly well-meaning but low on action and big on uneducated facts. I have to congratulate you on the doggys , so many people get snobby with these. They are catchable, bigger than any whiteing or pouting ( sorry and cod !! ), and really are a feisty little shark.If you release they go back, and if you eat, damm tasty. Thanks, keep getting out there for us stuck at home.

@@gsp when the crabs were peeling I used to catch 20-40 good sized flounders on a tide there some days, I think they are long gone now. I’m not sure what it is like down there now but I used to park by the pub and there was a footpath that took you out to the main swale channel. It was quite a long walk, you would fish opposite the island in the deep channel, probably full of oversized flatfish now and bass😀 There are a few points that are fishable at all states of tide, easy to see on google maps.

I think we could add to that rant and discuss the damage that farming fish does to native stocks. Peoples insatiable love of farmed salmon is really pressuring an already critical species. Farmed prawns, farmed tilapia - the list goes on. I get a real buzz from catching fish for the table and love to share it with my family and friends when they come for lunch. I have never seen key board warriors or even the ecologically minded who like to impose their views litter pick on the river bank or sea shore. It's a sad fact that people who criticise us for fishing depend on others to catch, kill and prepare the fish (and animals) they eat and yet don't see the contradiction in their attitudes. I believe ours is a more honest approach. We don't hide from what has to be done for food to make it onto our plates and are prepared to get our own hands dirty to make it happen. Perhaps it's the fact that we enjoy what we do that upsets them. Keep on fishing.

Ignore the trolls Greg. Fish come from the sea. Instead of buying them from a shop, you catch them yourself. So what's the difference? Would the trolls rather you killed them and left them on the beach. Yes I suppose they would, and why? Because they are desperately sad people who have such unsatisfactory lives the only way they can justify their unhappiness is to try and drag folks like us down to their level. They can't stand it when people actually enjoy their lives.

I hope my previous comment on taking fish for the table didn't offend, I fully support the taking of fish for personal eating, I do it myself. The problem I have is with certain youtubers taking large amount of fish to give away of care I say it, illegally well it. We have seen you take what you need and then afterwards release. I go fishing to put food on my table, it makes sense to eat FRESH fish caught by yourself to eat. Those who are offended look at other channels that are taking large amounts of fish, lobsters etc to give or sell and target them. My rant over.
